Is it possible to replace a broken recuclating air door by myself?

I have a 06 Dodge 2500 5.9 desiel, my a/c is horrible. I had Dodge look at it and they said the recuclating air door was broken. The part is only $60 however, they want to charge me $670 to do the repair. Anyone know if its possible to replace the part by myself?

I'm not 100% sure on that particular vehicle, but I'm guessing it will be a nightmare getting to it. One thing i would do though, is stop at a rad shop & see what kind of price or input they have, seeing how they usually do a lot of heater core replacements, which are basically same area & labor. Another thing you may want to try is ( and sign up for free, go to your truck forum & post question, you may just hear from someone who's been there, done that & will help you decide which way to go.

Heater vent making loud noise on defrost with very little air coming out

Not an expert on this and was actually looking at some other posts before seeing your question. I had the same problem last year with my 06 ram 1500. Although, it was an overall airflow problem, not only the defrost.

In my case it was the recirculation door that broke inside the dash. From what I remember, there were multiple posts stating that this is a common problem. I fixed mine in about 5 minutes by taking the fan assembly off and reaching up into the dash and removing the broken door. However, I did not replace the door, but it did fix the airflow problem. I can't tell much of a difference than before and it hasn't hurt anything so I doubt I will take the time to fix it. I couldn't find anything negative about not fixing it but please do some research yourself.

Google search "dodge ram recirculation door" and you should find more than enough info to help you. Good luck!

I own a 2006 Dodge 2500 diesel and the air blows cold and when I turn it to high it sounds like its blowing high but the amount of air that should be coming out isnt. On low and med. its right, but only on...

The problem with your ac is the vent door has broken off and is blocking air from getting to the blower. To check and see if this is your problem you will need to remove the blower. The blower is located on the passenger side. You will need to remove three screws located on the blower using a 8mm socket. Once you have the blower removed reach inside and feel for the vent door. If it is broken you can remove it. However, you will need to get this fixed by a mechanic.

You could check the intake and/or turbo for leaks. Or even make sure turbo is working. It will be very low power if there is no boost pressure.
