Question about 1996 Lincoln Town Car

1 Answer

Wipers. Have a mind of their own.

Wipers work sometimes. when they dont, i have to get them started by flipping the right turn signal on and off, until they kick in.

Believe it may be the turn signal switch, but wipers still work--is this possible, Yes Wiper switch is separate , has it's own inner working's . Could be the switch or the combination flasher ! So what youre saying is the wipers work when the headlights are on
but the wipers dont work when the headlights are off?

I would suspect the turn signal switch is bad. I believe the switch on your S-10 controls
the wipers as well as switching from high beams to low beams. Since that switch is related
to the control of both headlights and wipers.

Could also be the headlight switch. The wiring harness from the turn signal switch plugs
into the headlights switch. I would replace the headlight switch first since you can get one
for around $25. Turn signal switch costs $150-$200. Maybe a little more or less for your vehicle.

My wipers dont work and my right signal light flashes fast and my rear wiper dont work. some kind of sensor problem but not sure where that sensor is

ck fuses for wipers and rear wiper, the signal flashes fast most likely because theres a bulb out, turn on the hazard lights and see which bulb is out.

1996 PLYMOUTH VOYAGER, TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS DON'T WORK FUSES ARE OK, WAT'S WRONG

Hello. If the turn signals don't work left or right the flasher has gone bad. It is easy to replace as it just plugs in under the dash. Go to any auto parts store and buy a new flasher and ask the clerk to assist you in plugging it in. J.

the multifunction switch is a common problem on fords. the switch controls the wipers, turn signals, high beams and hazards, and sometimes only 1 part of it will fail. in your case it sounds like 2 parts fail at the same time.

Windshied wipers not working all the time

wiper motor boards go bad in those motor assemblies. You can replace just the board in most applications.
