I switch the relays that were the same , it still didnt work, and it does not work with ac on either, could it be the fan motor

the fan does not come on with a/c on either.; we tapped the fan motor with a screw driver and it came on for a minute and then went back off, but only once with the a/c on

Ok heres a quick common thought of the day....ac triggers fan on ... fan comes on when it need to w/o ac on, so if it came on and shut off when you tapped on the fan, y would you think its a switch obviously the TEMP switch has nothing to do with the fans operation with the ac on... ok here try this, if the fan in your house wouldnt work when you turn it on, you tap on it it spins for a second then shuts back down, would you replace the wall socket? you verified the problem, tapping on the fan made it come on an shut back off so replace the fan ac is obviouosly commanding the fan on if you tapped it and it came on for a brief time, use ur noodle... you *******' that are misleading people who need help should be drug into the road and shot

Cooling system needs to be full, there is a sensor that sends a signal to the computer which will sends a signal back to the relay and of coarse the fan motor has to work.

Yes it could be. Or it could be a bad ground. You can unplug the fan and check for power. With the a/c on it should have power.

The fan actually gets a signal from your coolant sensor which is to the left of your engine and has two prongs.
If you remove the sensor connector the fan will most likely come on
the fan is supposed to keep the engine temperature low on a hot day
it works irregardless of wether the ac is working or not.
My advice is to check the resistance of the sensor with a multimeter if it is not within spec then i would change it.
secondly i would replace the relay (becuase it is a cheap part) and there is the possibility that it wont work for the electric radiator fan circuit but it will work for the heater fan circuit you tested it with.
If you have still not found the problem then there is likely to be corrosion from the sensor to the fan or corrossion on the wiring harness from the ecu to the sensor, or ecu to the fan
good luck

if the fan motor came on when you tapped it take a test light see if you have power coming to the fan if so it probably is the fan motor

The passenger side fan should only come on while driving at highway speeds, to offer additional cooling help to cool down car, the Driver side fan is for when parked, ideling, city traffic, and air conditioner use. At least that is what i was told.

Air won't cool when the car is stopped on a 2004 chevy cavalier. car temp is normal

make sure electric coolant fan is running.if not check or replace fan relay.the coolant fan has to be running to cool down refrigerant in condensor.so refrigerant in condensor is cooled back down to high pressure liquid so it can go to evaporator.see ifcoolant fan not working.the AC is not going to cool.when you driving the condensor is cooling down from moving air when car is going.when you come to a stop.cooling fan suppose to be on so condensor gased can be cooled down.

Replace termostat in a 1998 chevy cavalier still run hot

Yes it does have a electric fan, mine went out on my 2003 and I just changed the electric motor itself. Autozone offered the entire fan with motor or they offered just the motor. I chose to replace the motor only because I knew the fan blades and housing was fine. I had to drop the fan down and take out the entire assembly from the bottom but overall the process was a 3 out of 10 on the difficulty.
