are you running the dash 72E01 ECU? (sidekick) or the 79EA1 X90 MT ECU? note major P/N differ. and documentation is weak on that real X90 they only made the 3 years, and sold so few

    _-__-___-_ Jan 05, 2014

well, lets do this piece meal.. the DLC in the usa is standard. and pin 16 is 12v. pins 4 and 5 are ground, now the heard part, which pins, and what polarity are the 2 comm pins, for OBD2 comms , well the 79 ECU might just have the same pin? see bottom of page next link, it the DLC page. for all sidekicks.

  • _-__-___-_
    _-__-___-_ Jan 05, 2014

my guess, i you will ask next, here is ECU conn, E175 and E172, i dont have that info, my on line sources dont have it either. the ecu connector were made bigger in 1997 to accomidate moving the TCM onboard.

  • _-__-___-_

so you want a working scan tool, did you tool work in the old X90:/?? that be first quesion. as down under ECU are quite different than here, the ECU here, have US-MT or US-AT on the tag, and that means our protocals work and yours dont. a key point, SUZ. makes vast numbers of ECU world wide, even JDM, or JOBD, or EOBD

no, i posted, the, 96 sidekick, dizzy page, 2 times above, it has internal dizzy. ill post 1 more time for that page, by 16pin, what is that, ??? the DCL in the cab,? are you expecting a scan tool to work, y/n if yes, is x90 OBD2, ready? is the ECU OBD2 certified, like here in USA? for example you and the tool working (yours) in you X90 before it was stipped?

  • _-__-___-_
    _-__-___-_ Jan 06, 2014

swaps are complex. the drawing you have seen so far (your searches are 1995) all in USA< all with a fire wall IGN coil. your coil is in the dizzy base..

Wow, no name of both cars. and both engines. "sierra" what's that>?
engine swaps are complex (done many)
my wild guess, is you are asking for the 1997 EFI system schematics for the 1997 EFI?
is this M/T or A/T , the A/T now has TCM , inside the PCM/ECU.
you cant find it because, its at alldata.com and didnt look there.
its there, and at mitchels, and all FSM sold at fleabay.
im putting X engine and EFI in to what car.?

only the 1996 is online and free.
the dizzy has 7 pins. and a base ground.
here is just the dizzy. on a 96 G16B engine. im sure 97 is same.
http://www.fixkick.com/ECU/1996/EFI1.jpg

the X90 is a very rare car and doc.s are the most lacking
and ive found the emmision changes, lag the Sidekick by 1/2 year.
tricky beast the x90 (EGR differ) That means the ECU is too.

tell exactly what you are doing. and what wires are unknown?
and get far better help..
i just looked at one major online source and it shows doing service
1997 , with 1989 engine parts..... this is common in the suz world.
bad docs.

1992 geo storm replaced distributer have fire out of coil wire but no fire spark plug wire module in distributer checks out

storm is an ISUZU
and had 3engines,which one? below is off wiki on storm.

1.6 L DOHC 4XE1 I4
1.8 L DOHC 4XF1 I4

coil makes 50,000 volts (even 1kv makes fire, but is too weak spark
spark plugs dead , right? all 4 right?
ever do a 60k mile tune up ? if not why not, it gets new spark parts then..
also, if the cam timing is off. the dizzy sparks between towers
make the distributor useless, it cant distribute spark.
so the first tests are .
static ignition timing. (yes, a tool, called a timing light for $20)
if timing is good the the wires HV are bad.
if timing is bad, bingo..... this is the first test on any motor.
if the timing belt or chain on any SOHC or DOHC engine slips
the dizzy will be way to h3ll off.
learn to use a timing light, and works 100% cranking.

look at that distributor cap (replace it)
see the coil wire , center, that is at 50kv spark.
and see that rotor, if the spark is good at the cap pins 1 to 4
then the dizzy is timed.
if the spark dont reach the spark plugs that means
the wire are bad or the spark plugs are shorted, or both.
its that simple. using a real spark testing tools tells you the KV.
kv = kilovolts. the best tools $5 bucks have and adjustable gap
this car is not 100kv, like newer cars and must be set (tool) to 50kv or tad less to show full powerful spark.

take care not to get shocked, keep hands off the parts
as friend cranks (or remote start button tool)

Auto transmisiion jamming. Error code 90

when you say 'jamming',do you mean stuck in a gear? When they lodge a fault or numerous faults, the system goes in to 'limp home mode'.It stays in one gear,a sort of a get you home but I now I've got your attention, get me fixed mode.
I cant find a code 90,even the conversion to P codes doesn't define this.It may be a manufacturer specific code,
on engine it is 90 -camshaft timing adjust actuator open cicuit or short to ground.
or 090-not used.
on trans conversions,009xx-P09xx-not used.
I suspect that my update for the codes needed hasn't been supplied to me.
I shall do some more research for you if needed.

I'm no artist but this looks like a golf engine and dizzy drawing to me.....

Anyhow the dizzy looks like this 1- 0 the 4 contacts... 2- 0 3- 0 4- 0

Number 1 plug is furthest left of the engine.
Number 1 plug on the dizzy is the "top" contact furthest back of the car Number 2 on diz\zy is the LEFT most contact Number 3 on dizzy is the Right most contact Number 4 in dizzy is the Bottom (nearest front of the car) contact NUMBERED!!!
Hope this helps -

Hei distributor on old L6 engiune won't fire coil

'56 engine was likely a "blue flame" engine that had a points type ignition system. If someone installed a HEI setup in there, you need to know what year vehicle it came from. The old system used a hot wire from the ignition switch to the (+) side of an external coil...the (-) lead went to the points. The most common conversion uses the same (+) wire but it then connects to the "batt" terminal on the distributor cap.(coil is inside) There are no other wires involved except for the short harness that goes directly into the distributor that connects the coil, pickup coil and control module to each other..
