No recalls, it's probably the cage on your blower motor, either its broke or there is something in there...i.e..rodents

When i turn the heat on it makes a clicking sound, and it blows out cold air, but when i turn cold temp on the clicking sound stops, until heat temp is turned back on. please tell me how to fix this...

Your ac blend door is broken or the actuator that opens and closes the door is broken. The ac blend door moves up and down to direct air flow through the heater core(for heating) or evaporator core(for cooling).

When the door mechanism breaks, the blend door falls down and you will only have ac but no heating.

You can buy a ac blend door kit for your explorer, they cost about $120 on ebay or other places.
search for Explorer ac blend door kit.

The duct is under the the dash on the drivers side. And you will have to cut open the duct to install the replacement door.

Heres a link to a tutorial of how to do the job.

When the temp control is switched to heat there is a clicking noise under the dash and no heat comes of this. The noise is continues until cold air is turned on.

theres a good possibility that the blend door in heater is bad, or the acuator itself. the reason it works when heat is not on is, the heater blend door does not move so you get cool air. when you turn it to heat the blend door moves over to direct heat in car. if its working properly. good-day ! this is for a 2004 explorer, but i believe that it is the same as a 2005. please go to this site for more info, and how to save a few hundred bucks. www.wiki.answers.com/q/how_do_you_repair_the_heater_on_a_2004_ford_explorer this site is do it yourself in about 45 minutes. but the garage charges 2.5 hours labor. the dash does not have to come out. good-day!

Heater&air conditioning vents wont reach position make a clicking noise have no heat or air how do i fix? 2003 ford explorer

The clicking noise you hear is a stripped out plastic gear from the blend air door motor almost every car maker now uses little electric motors to control heater door panels, put it in the position for it to make noise go under your dash find where it is usually externally mounted remove it and replace it cost about 30 dollars at the dealer.depending on which of the 3 motors its is usually not hard to do.

1997 ford explorer cant get the heater to throw any heat air works fine but temp control doesent to work

blendor actuators have issue with the plastic gears inside geting striped out. listen for poping or clicking noise when turning temp control if you hear the noise you need a blendor actuator.

No Front heat

the noise u are hearing is the caused by a defective air temp control blend door actuator motor, all to common problem on Ford's, the part is fairly cheap but the dash must be removed to replace the part.
