Question about 2003 Jaguar X-Type

Noise like a siren when speed increases

I have a 2003 Jaguar X-Type 3.0 AWD. There is a noise coming from my car which increases proportionally with the speed. I've changed the bearing wheels today but the noise remains like a siren when the speed increases. Maybe it's coming from the transmission. I've heard about a cable but not sure.

I will forward your tips to my mechanic.

I had the same siren noise on my 2003 X Type. It was the drive shaft (or propeller shaft). The dealer replaced it and it solved the problem. (Actually the car was over the warranty, but Jaguar covered most of the cost....hopefully Tata Motors will be so accommodating!!!)

Hey plinio7,
Having been a jag tech for the last two years, this noise could be a million different things.
But If your sure that its not the wheel bearings then this is where i would start.
I had a few cases where the front diff. was making the noise, the best way to fine out if that is the problem is try to get all four tires off the ground. Start it and put it in drive, and put a longer screw drive or pry bar from the case to your ear. If its very lound then that is your problem.
Let me know what you fine thanks

check your wheel bearings, brakes and backing plate, since you said the noise is proportionate to speed i'm pretty sure its your wheel bearing, does the noise change when you turn (get louder or softer?) if so, i'm 98% sure its the wheel bearing

Noise when driving at speed Jaguar X type (53 plate)

This problem that your having is all too common on Jaguars. I have a 2002 X-type and I have been completely screwed over with it. I've had all of your problems and then some. The noise your hearing is a prop shaft most likely in the front of the vehicle. Jag says that it doesn't need to be replaced but you always can. They quoted me somewhere close to 1,300. Good Luck.
