How do I remove my fly wheel?

This is not an easy job and requires a substantial amount of knowledge. you will also need a decent floor jack or a transmission jack. The transmission must be pulled or slid back to get the flywheel off the engine. The first thing is to take the transmission dust cover off or in some cases the starter. The starter needs to come out anyway. This will reveal the torque converter bolts. You can use a pry-bar to turn the flywheel around so you can get to each torque converter bolts. The other option is to turn the crank with a socket and breaker bar from the front of the engine/harmonic balancer. Then you must drop the transmission or if you can slide it back enough to reach the flywheel bolts mounted to the crank. Once you remove the center bolts in the flywheel it should drop out.

Does anybody know what tue time frame is for replacing the clutch/flywheel on an 07 long wheel base citroen relay

If it is a diesel engine then the flywheel may have the timing injection mark in the front of the flywheel facing a hole and pointer in the bell housing . This will require that the fly wheel bolt holes will be slightly off and will require you to turn the flywheel hole by hole until the bolts all screw in finger tight.. If you are asking how long should the job take 4 to 6 hours in a well equipped shop.

Remove a flywheel

The clutch come out with the engine since it is bolted to the fly wheel. If you had an automatic transmission then you would need to remove the torque converter bolts from the flywheel so that the torque converter would stay in the transmission. If you pulled the manual transmission the clutch would stay attached to the flywheel. It's the same when pulling the engine.

Engine does not turn over when you turn key sounds like metal on metal grind....sounds like flywheel is jammed

The starter is bad, the drive that extends out to engage the flywheel has failed. If this has been going on for a long time, there's a chance the teeth on the flywheel are damaged, this should be checked when the starter is replaced.

When I pulled the engine in my 1994 Ford Van 4.9 Straight 6 the torque converter came out too. How do I get it off the engine?

There are bolts in between the flywheel and the engine. There should be four, you will have to turn the flywheel to get to the bolts, the converter should have been un bolted before removing the engine

for the starter and flywheel 1400 sounds right they would have to take the tranny out to get to the fly wheel but why do they need to replace the fly wheel did your old starter do a lot of grinding its not to often you have to replace a flywheel unless the starter wrecked it somehow again not to often starters are ment to break before it wrecks the flywheel the flywheel made of harder metel i would get a second opinion on replacing the flywheel

Fly wheel ring gear replacement

You need to pull the tranny out.
Then the flywheel needs to be unbolted from the engine.
if it's an automatic, purchase a new flywheel, if its a clutch, you can have a new ring gear pressed on to the flywheel...

You need to pull the starter out and check the drive gear. If the drive gear is no good you will have to replace the starter. Make sure the cogs on the fly wheel are okay. If the fly wheel is damaged you will have to replace the fly wheel.
