Tail/ brake light wiring problem

I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. Some of my tail lights do not work. But when I apply my brakes the lights that were not working work and the ones that did work don't. I know it is a wiring issue becuase I have changed the bulbs without any change.
What can I check to make sure is working before I have to have it taken in and looked at?

I have a 99 Jeep Cherokee limited and when I turn my lights on my tails don't work but when I apply the brakes the passenger side comes on. I replaced blubs and sockets.

Had a similar problem in mine. When I applied brakes while head lights were on, the the light would go off completely. There is a computer chip in the tail light assembly that tends to go bad causing the light to malfunction. I just bought a new tail light assembly from eBay and now it works perfectly. As easy as putting in a new bulb but you just have to unplug electric terminal from the light and plug in new light once received.

There is definitely a short in the park lights system. Did you just have a radio installed....since the illumination wire sometimes gets grounded and will cause that fuse to blow until you fix that wire.

2001 Grand Cherokee Limited- Driver side rear brake light does not work if tail lights are on. When you step on brake tail light also goes out. With lights off everything works ok.

Very common issue is the lamp assembly (dealer item). They are very bad to ground back through the tail lamp filament, lights on the path has voltage on it and the lamp will not work.

No brake lights on 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee

First thing to do is chk. the fuse for break lights, if thats ok, than i would say its the break light switch. As far as the right taillight, that could be as simple as a bad bulb.
