Air Conditioner quites during idle

I have a 2000 Nissan Maxium. When in park or at a stop for sometime, the conditioner will kick off. The air blows but it's like the air conditioner is not on. I have taken it in when this happens and nothing is freezing up. If I start driving it will kick back on.

Our car will do this, if the car is in idle and not reving or in drive the clutch will disingage the ac fan as not to burn it out.....in idle it gets very hot....and usually the air comming across the coils helps to keep the systems cooler....it's a good possibility it's because your car uses the r135 or r134 coolant and not the r12 coolant, they are trying to keep the r12 off the shelves for non industrial use....hope this helps you....shia

My air conditioner quit blowing cool air. My 2006 Nissan Sentra is leaking coolant out of a skinny black hose near the front left of the engine by the air conditioner line. how can I stop up the hole?

Good idea is to drain the coolant from your radiator, then replace the hose that is leaking and then fill with coolant to the proper level. Drive your car and have heater running to remove any air in the system.

Fan for Air Conditioner

You have a fan temp sensor located on the engine block that controls when fan turns on or off.

Pick up Nissan air conditioner system.

CHECK YOUR CONDENSER IT MIGHT NOT BE GROUNDED. MINE DID THE SAME THING IT WOULD COME ON AND THE CONDENSER WOULD RUN FOR A FEW MIN. THEN KICK OFF AND NOT COME BACK ON MAKING IT BLOW COOL AND NOT COLD

Nissan 2000 ac hot when idle

the a/c condenser has a fan in front ( there is actually 2 fans if you sit on the car it will be fan on right side ) if this fan does not
come on immediately when you are parked and engine in idle
there is a problem with power to it, or motor failure. If you drive it
on the highway and a/c operates fine that's because air is circulating though condenser (thats what the fan is supposed to do at idle or slow traffic)

Air conditioner

Possible solution for susuns: turns out my problem was an improper freon charge. If your problem is the same as mine your a/c cools very well, but stops blowing air after about 20 minutes. If so, your evaporator core is freezing over and the ice is blocking air flow. Also after parking the truck water will continue to drip from the truck for a long time. To test this theory next time it occurs, switch the selector to vent and the fan to high. You should notice the air flow return within 5-10 minutes or less, however the air will still be quite cold due to the ice formed on the core. If all this fits your situation, take your truck to an experienced technician and have the freon pressures checked. My system needed to be charged a little on the high side to prevent the freezing up.
Hope this helps, capn0623
