Question about 1988 Honda Accord 4 Door
I have a Loud Rattle coming from my 1988 honda Civic Wagon. I've had, tons of repairs done to it recently and the mechanic didnt say anything about it. Likely because he didnt hear it on a residential road test.
It only happens at freeway speeds. In 4th gear between 50-60 MPH and in 5th gear between 55-70 MPG unless I am acclerating quickly.. Generally this puts the rattle at between 2-3 RPM's for my old girl.
I love this car, but I can't afford another Massive Rapir so I'd like to know what it might be. Oh, it comes from the pass side as well. It doesn't seem to be affecting the cars performance and my check engine light is not on. Its just a very loud rattle.
ANy help or advice is greatly appreciated.
It sounds like you have a piece of metal of some sort floating around the engine area, Take a look in any holes that you can fit your finger into and grab a flash light at the same time so that you can see in the holes, If you can get a flexible magnet to put in the holes drag it around slowly so that you don't risk missing a spot. And if there is something in the hole it will catch it just take your time when doing that you may be surprised on what you may find. And for the tough areas also make sure that you have a small mirror.
