I have a Diesel Renalt Megane Senic 1.5dCI Dynamique -
Year 2004.
the car constantly fails to start and something appears to be draining the battery overnight.
I have had a new battery fitted but the problem still remains.
Can anyone please advise what the source of the problem could be.

Have you checked for any codes in the ECM ? Might also help to include what exactly happened prior to your issue and what have you done to correct.

What is making it hard to steer?

no not the dreaded renault ,best advice is to trade it in quick ,This vehicle has electric power steering located under the dash ,Now what happens is that some little unskilled youknowhat in kwikfit or wherever has realigned the tracking so the steering wheel is not level as they only adjusted one track rod end ,this upsets the software on the power steering motor ,this causes the unit to fail which means a reconditioned unit about 600euros but it can only be fitted in a renault garage as they are the only people with the software to reset the unit after it has been fitted ,no re-programmed then it will go wrong within 500kms .go and get a ford focus or a VW /skoda ,never no problems with these cars but this make are hell for us mechanics .try changing the clutch ?? its quicker and easier to lift the g/box and engine out in one

Car problem troubleshoot

i had this with my 2.0 IDE laguna. it was due to a low voltage level on battery enough power to fire the relays, but not enough to turn the starter. check that your battery voltage is high . i ended up getting anew battery and a battery conditioner from ebay to just keep the voltage topped up when not using the car, i never found what was causing the drain on battery though

Contact your local Renault Dealer and they will gladly help you with your radio code. You will need your VIN and registration. For reasons of anti-theft and piracy we are not allowed to pass codes or passwords here.

From Renault website FAQ's

http://www.renault.com/en/pages/faq.aspx

You can obtain your car radio code from your nearest Renault dealership. You will need to show your vehicle registration papers.
To find your nearest Renault dealership, log on to your Renault country website (via the country list on the home page of Renault.com).

On the home page of your country website, click on "Find a dealer". Enter your location or postcode, then click on “Search”.
