My engine check light is on but the car was scanned and does not have a problem. the last time this happened it was the gas cap not being screwed on tightly. wondering if replacing the gas cap will do the trick

SOURCE: Land Rover LR3 versus Jeep Grand Cherokee -- which is overall a better car??

I used to a own jeep grand cherokee but sold it for an LR3. From experience the jeep is somewhat economical over the lr3 in term mpg. Seating in the jeep is a joke, not enough leg room or head room or comfort from daily driving for 3 years. Most of the jeep dashboard is plastic which is essentially price reducing overall to the cost of the car. In terms of the LR3, you have lots of driver and passenger comfort, more suspension features, more capability, however, buttons for certain things are hard to find and need time to remember. Next, LR3's tires need to be replaced once every year, at least since i off-road 4times a month, not much but yea.

Overall the jeep is cheaper and more economical to drive with less comfort. The LR3 is the exact opposite, its more comfortable, more capable on/off road, more better looking, however, it consumes lots and lots of fuel, maintenance can be lot at 30 or 60k. let me put it this way, a jeep grand cherokee is like a bicycle and an LR3 is like a sports bike.

Was driving 96 discovery and it stalled at light. Friend opened up injector started but would not accelerate when gas pressed, even pressed to floor. When sitting still it runs okay. Put fuel injector cleaner and turns out had not had an oil change for a while. Then while in parked position check engine light came on

Get this to a Land Rover tech asap.
Module could be a central convenience module or body control module. Either way, wiring in these vehicles can be very tricky. There are just certain vehicles you don't mess around with unless you have all kinds of time on your hands. Bring it to a certified Land Rover garage. Could definitely be the basis for all of your odd issues.

Where is air mass sensor on 2005 land rover lr3

I believe you will find the MAF sensor in similar locations on your LR3 as with P38. In the intake tube between your air filter and the engine there will be a section that has a multi-long-running to it. This middle section of the air intake houses your MAF sensor. This is a fairly fragile component, use care in handling, do not touch the wire or mesh and clean only as specifically instructed on the label of the product formulated specifically for cleaning it.

Check engine light on 2005 land rover just came on. It has been very cold and will sit for hours in between driving does that have anything to do with light coming on ???

It is most likely that moisture is condensing on one or more of the wires that send errors to the master control module. If you need to know which sensor is affected take it to a shop that does inspections and have them hook up an OBD2 to it to get the codes.

I have a 2005 Land Rover LR3 V8 and the only problem I'm having is that sometimes when I pull into park the car shut shuts off, the power is still on but the engine shuts off. I don't have a

I had a similar problem in that when the driver stopped at a set of ligjhts the engine died. ran alright every where else just when the car was stopped. The problem turned out to be a vacuum leak in the brake booster leaning out the idle when the foot was on the brakes. resulting in the engine stopping. Try parking using the hand brake and not the foot brake. It could be as simple as that.

I just bought a land rover LR3, and as I'm coming to a rolling stop the car really down shifts hard, as if someone is hitting me from behind. Also while I'm coming to a rolling stop, I push on the gas to...

A couple of possibilities - a MAF sensor, the TPS (throttle positioning sensor) and possibly a trans filter & fluid change. The TPS would explain the delay in accell/shifting issues. You might want to check Landrovers only forum and contact Disco Mike (resident expert who will even call you at home to diagnose. He's a retired Rover Service mgr.)
