It sounds to me like you have an internal vacuum leak in your transmission.

SOURCE: my truck dies in reverse.

I have the same stalling issue in reverse with a Dodge Ram 1500. I have been researching online forums and read about stalling occurring because of a clogged or bad transmission cooling radiator. I am going to remove the lines into and out and splice a connector hose and test my reverse to see if mine is failed. I have replaced my solenoid pack, both tranny filters, air intake control, throttle positioning sensor, can positioning sensor, crankshaft positioning sensor, transmission pressure sensor, canister purge sensor. Still searching for the problem .

Maybe as simple as a tune up! Change your plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, and air filter. also it could be the fuel filter, if this dont work it might be water in your gas. GOOD LUCK!

94 Ford Taures dies in reverse

How is the car when put in drive? Does it almost stall or does it run fine? Almost sounds like a transmission problem. Reverse and drive put the same exact load on the engine when sitting still, so it seems unlikely it could be anything but a transmission problem. Maybe the transmission range switch is out of adjustment or bad.
