Had the same problem, found that the intake manifold was leaking. Found it by letting the car idle and spraying WD40 around the manifold where it attached to head for each cylinder. If engine idle picks up, you found your leak.

My 1999 jeep grand cherokee sometme dies when stopped but starts again, sometimes misses

is this petrol or diesel.if petrol check your plugs are getting a spark. if no spark then check the ignition leads from your cap going to your spark plugs use a spark plug tester.if it is a diesel check your fuel filter it has a drain on the bottom of it may have a small amount of water .to drain from it. i take it you know how to remove air in the system if no .come back on .i can talk you through the procedure. this apply to any diesal engine.

Central locking not working and air bag light flashing after fire.

A new friend? You can go to Autozone.com and register for free on their site. Then you can print wiring layouts and fusebox diagrams and try to reconstruct what is missing.

Insurance company. Comprehensive should cover this without a deductible.

I hope my solution helps.

L have an escort mk6,l have a full tank of petrol, today l notice there is a smell of petrol by the tank

In most cases like this, the petrol tank was over-filled (petrol was "nursed in" and saturated the fuel vapour charcoal canister. It may take some time for the canister to dry enough and rid the apparent fuel vapour smell. If not, you may want to consider changing the charcoal canister.

You also may want to check for leaks or loose fittings from the filler nozzle to the tank as well.

I hope this helps! :)

Smell of petrol in ford escort

the only way to find this is to look at all the fuel lines for a wet spot this is where the leak is, donot use any naked flames to illuminate the working area, or all your problem will be over for ever LOL

Dies when at lights

Hi, i recommend replacing the intake manifold gaskets. seems to be a leak or, these gaskets are worn or damaged. this will heel the smell of petrol. i would also change the air filter as well.

Inspect the exhaust manifold gaskets for leaks as well. replace if needed.

Lights and central locking fault

this is a similar problem to the one i had, it sounds like the fuse box may be breaking down one by one, usually means a replacement fuse box
