Question about BMW 328

I have a 1999 BMW 328i (E46). The central lock does not work (use remote key) when the car is in hot weather (park in hot open area. I can only open the driver's side door is use manual unlock. The rest of doors can not be opened by all methods (either push the button on shift gear or handle). Passengers have to crawl to seats. Everything back to normal after the car cools down. Do you know why?

    I still don't understand how to solve my problem? Do I need to replace any parts? My problem is only happen when the car is hot.

---------------------------------- as you mentioned the remote key does not works to unlock or lock doors when car is in hot whether but works in cold whether.this happens because ,in the control pannel when the car gets hot there are certain wires they get bit loose when gets hot.actually on that wire after soldering them  a special liquid/spary is applied so that wire get properly gripped.but slowly slowly after certain time the liquid/spray gets dried up and because of that spray on the soldered wires vanishes ,while the car get hot the wires becomes loose and due to that remote key lock function stops working and when in cold whether the wires gets firm again and it starts in control module just get all the wires resoldered and resetted.this will help you.

It is the Central locking Module a large black box under the dash that is faulty, apparently a common problem.
Try to lock yourself inside the car and when locking listen very carefully where does the clicking sound comes from, as for lights relays are being used, so by finding the source of clicking sound you'll get to the location of alarm/imobiliser/central locking system. So after that we will know where all the work is needed. Also I'd like you to note any identification marks from the unit. Usually it is being placed under the panel, next to the passengers right feet but in some cases it might be just above the dirvers knees, under the dashboard, rarely even under the back seat. so first thing that we need to do is to find the exact unit.

Also as for so old vehicle try to get to the wires which goes from the car body to the door (passenger), as due to age wires might be snapped or damaged, preventing doors from lock/unlock commands.
If unable to lock manually you nead to strip out the door-lock itself, wash it with something like WD-40 and add some grease. Nothing electronicaly can prevent manual operation of the door-lock. not in 1990.

Unlock but hold the unlock button on your remote while pointing at the driver's side door. There is a sensor right there.

Would a lose serpentine belt cause wierd electrical issues inside car? Its a 1999 328i bmw (e46) the inside indicator lights not working, remote key stopped working

not real likely unless battery is goin dead and bad.Chech the small ground cable attached close to battery on the frame.i have had this problem recently and seen it happen alot.its a small black wire and usually their are sometimes other grounds to body at rear of engine.any of these can make guages act up then stop and headlights go out or all lights and speedometer stop.all kinds of weird things,dim interior light,dash light so on,hope you fet it.

Where is oil filter on bmw 328i located

It is located just behind the radiator in a casing that is plastic on top fitted with a plastic bolt. You need a very big spanner to open it. In side it is a cylidrical like oil filter

replace your driver side door lock actuator, it controls the opening of the windows with your key, it is faulty, i had the same problem and that was the fix.

1998 328i remote battery replacement. No battery in remote-bought car used. Don't know which battery to buy-battery hatch marked: 5 PAGF30 Thank you.

Its a standard battery,take key to local accessory shop
There is a couple of different sizes,yours is the smaller 3v
You will need to reprogamme the key
Enter car,shut all doors
Switch ignition on/off,remove key
Press lock button 3 times whithin 10 seconds,release unlock
Central locking will lock/unlock rapidly to confirm reset

I have the same issue. I had to remove the door pannal to fix my window and not it wont work. IT will lock with remote and the key but not with button. IF any one can help please email me answer on how to fix it @

BMW 328i touring tailgate not opening

Have had this problem. Solve it by reading the owner's handbook, which gives clear instructions. Do not use the key in the tailgate door before reading the instructions.

Central Locking not working

Hi Craig,
I'm running a E34 Tds Touring with a similar problem, my rear doors and tailgate have dropped of the central locking circuit.
I have been told it is the Central locking Module a large black box under the dash that is faulty, apparently a common problem.

The boot wont open neither by the button inside or the remote

this sounds like a broken wire inside the corrugated tubing for the boot/trunk loom located by the right hand hinge on the lid
