Gas gage floats between empty an full

gauge in-tank probably your problems. You can test it at connector near fuel tank . there is 2 kind of gauge one is 0 to 90 ohms or 0 to 250 ohms. if the reading is not good then gauge is defect
hope it helps

Gas gauge reading wrong

One of two things: either the gage itself is malfuntioning or the float/sending unit in the gas tank is failing. Disconnect the plug at the tank for the sending unit, pick up a new sending unit and attach it to the plug without taking the old unit out of the tank. Then operate the float up and down on the new sending unit. If the gas gage reads correctly when the float is all the way up (full) and all the way down (empty) the old sending unit is probably bad and should be replaced. If there is no difference when you connect the new sending unit, the gage is probably bad. Then you can return the new sending unit (as long as the auto parts store allows returns of electrical parts) and buy a new gage. Install the new gage and...happy motoring.

My gas gage says full when I am on empty how do we fix it

you replace the float mechanism in the gas tank. there is an access plate on the side, end, or top of your gas tank,. this is where the fuel pump is probably on your vehicle. remove it and you will see the float. that operates the rheostat that tells you how much gas you have. remove it and install a new one. depending on mileage or age, replace the fuel pump also while u have it apart.

My gas gage is either on full or once in a while 2002 buick regal

there is a float in your gas tank kinda like the float in your toilet. Sometimes they stick and if the bell goes off then back.. it prob. from the gas splashing in the tank. I wouldnt' be concerned too much.

Gas gage isnt right it keeps floating

The Sorento gs tank is under the floor in the back seat. Flip the seat bottom's forward and pull open the Velcro to access the top of the tank. The fuel pump and sender may be accessible from the top, but you might be unlucky and have t remove the tank.

Calibrate a fuel gage (gas)

Assuming you don't have some kind of Space Shuttle technology to work with, the best thing to start with is an empty gas tank. When you install the sending unit the little float will be hanging down and the gauge should read empty. You can do some minor adjustments to the float while you are monkeying around with it so that, for example, "Empty" is not empty. This way even if the gauge is reading empty you will know that you have a few gallons left in there as a back up reserve so even if you are reading in the reserve range that you know you will still have a couple gallons left in the tank when you hit the big "E".
