I have a 2003 jeep liberty and the interior lights keep flashing on and off while I am driving. They are dong this more and more frequently. Any suggestions?

there are 3 things that could cause this. Lets rule out one, The BCM, these usually will work or not work, not saying that it couldn't be the problem, but not very likely. The next will be the door latch in the door jam. This is where they put the dome /interior light switch among other things. Next would be the dimmer switch in the dash. My guess is that it isn't the switches themselves, but the wires going to them. I personnally would check the door first as this moves the most. Check for wires that are worn or showing wire. It sounds as if the hot wire is hitting the other wire going to the lights and activating them. Then check at the light dimmer switch. I don't rule out the switches through. But normally when a switch goes bad it will heat up and loose contact. ie... headlight switch, thus turning the headlights off.

No speedo, fuel guage, temp guage, rpm guage, overhead not working the interior lights overhead work.I assume that the cruise control is out because the speedo isn't working.when you turn on the key the idiot...

In order to read your obd code you have to turn the key on and off three times then the fourth time leave it on and watch the check engine light for flashing the code. There is delay before it starts to flash. Then it will flash and pause before it goes to the next number. for example one flash is 1, two flashes is 2, and so on till it flashes 5,5, which is the end of the code. there is a pause between numbers. You will have to try it a few times till you get a feel for it.

Sound like the guage cluster has went out. You will have to replace the whole dash cluster, Check with junk yard to save on money.

Flashing Headlights/interior Lights

Could be a bad light switch or relay, but I'd check dash and body grounding first. On every Jeep I've ever owned, I run a direct ground to everything before I even drive it. To do this, Attach a 12ga or larger wire to the battery ground connector. Run that wire around the firewall side of the engine bay, removing insulation at several points and attaching the exposed wire to the firewall, (using short, self-tapping screws) both fenders and ground points for the computer. I also attach one additional leg which runs through the firewall (careful not to drill through anything important) and attaches to the metal frame of the dashboard. I also add a second ground wire directly to the engine block, eliminating any possibility of a poor ground anywhere. It sounds like a big job but it's not, and doing this precludes many frustrating and unnecessary problems down the road!

The body control module is the cause of your weird problems. Replace it.

Electrical problem?

it could be the controller of the lights and not the alternator. but in the first place why did your car got low battery?.. maybe the battery is just old.

anyway, try this solution if it would work. you said you already replaced the battery, now remove the positive cable of the battery, tun on the ignition switch, turn on your headlights, and your ac,

now put the positive cable back to the battery, ( blower would run, lights would come on ) then turn off the ignition switch.

tighten the positive terminal and start the car, let me know what happen?
