SOURCE: 2002 Izusu Rodeo timing problems

Check with your local Izuzu dealer, there is a procedure to set the cams in proper relationship with each other. This involves turning the cams up to 8 rotations to have them "jump" into the proper spot. I have had the same problem and found a bulletin that shows the correct way to time the engine.

if its a 6VE1 engine you might want to remove rocker covers and put front lobes of camshafts in position shown in picture with cam gear timmed up at same point cam gear are 3:1 ratio

3.2L engine, you will have to remove timing belt to replace water pump, your water pump is timing belt driven, I would replace timing belt while in there, good luck, hope this was very helpful.

first remove starter, then use pry or large screwdriver to hold flexplate from rotating while someone else loosens the pulley bolt.

3.2L engine, you will have to remove timing belt to replace water pump, your water pump is timing belt driven, I would replace timing belt while in there, good luck, hope this was very helpful.

on a v6 the timing belt turns the water pump center front of engine.

you dont need to take it off...there is a plug on the back if you can see it just count the wires going into it...its either 3 or 4...

4 cylinder or v-6? Try and get the book on your vehicle and follow the instructions. Haynes Manual #47017 Worked for me...
