SOURCE: No reverse Jaguar x-type 2003

Check and make sure you used the right type of lube. The reason I say this is a feww years ago i put 90weight in one of mine and it would not shift they are several types of gear lube used nowdays some gear boxes like like automatic tany fluid. Just something to check.

SOURCE: GEARBOX WONT GO INTO GEAR

hi from uk could you please give a little more info ? what make/model car ? has this problem occured suddenly? has car been layed up off road some time prior to this unable to select gears ? this problem sounds very much like the clutch drive plate is either stuck to flywheel hence question above ? or it is sticking on primary/spigot shaft for some reason and failing to disengage drive to g/box? how does clutch pedal feel ? you might try selecting 2nd gear with clutch fully pressed and h/brake on then try starting engine if engine starts ?runs then put slight revs on and slip clutch a few times this may work if plate is sticking? if you come back with update may be able to advise further

SOURCE: hyundai excel 1996 automatic will engage reverse

It appears you have a Forward Clutch FAILURE. Replace the trans after you get it diagnosed and verified by a professional technician. By the way, do you have a Check Engine light? If so, what is the diagnostic code? The dealership can scan the system and find any codes which may have been stored in the TCM (Transmission Control Module). If there were any 'Incorrect Gear Ratio" codes, it's most probably the trans itself.

I changed flexplate and the car starts but wont when in drive it does not movechevy k-1500 1997

quite possible you have damaged front pump in gearbox when reinstalling gearbox ,does it engage reverse .........if it doesnt more than likely the torque converter has moved forward out of the gearbox oil pump ,thus not creating any pressure for gearbox to operate

Automatic gearbox has reverse only no drive tries but wont move forword, drives fine backwords, gear oil level ok and still red in colour no leaks

check your gearbox selector mech somthing may have come apart with wear and check it from under the vehicle but mostly be safe when you do this it may take a second person to select gears as you observe wats going on at the gear box end if its elect select you will find the selector has gone faulty try a pre used part

We have an auto toyota camry lumiere G. the gears wont always engage. sometimes the reverse wont work either. we notice that when the car is running in neutral the oil level for the gearbox doesnt go down....

Well it sounds like you have a bad problem but we will try and find out why.
First the gear box pump is driven by the engine and that is the flywheel as the torque convertor which is bolted to it is the gearbox pump and 5 out of 10 that is the problem but also theselector on the side of the box could also be loose and needs tighten and adjusting as the pump supplys the pressure to the drive bands both forward and reverse but the oil level dosent have to move as if the bands are good then the most iol they will use is about 1/2 ltr max .So you might find that you need a change over convertor or a new filter in the Gear Box. either way its a Auto Matic Shop job ..

Bonnet catch will not engage

Had the same problem today. First I thaught the catch had slipped out or the spring that connects onto the catch had let go. I was fumblng about for ages, poking around with a screwdriver. Anyway simple answer (if you're sure no cable has broken) oil, Oil, OIL! Spray lots of oil. Push and pull the catch lever under the bonnect. Push and pull the latch which is inside the car. Click the bonnect shut. Open from the latch inside again. Repeat it a few times. Just get all the moving parts, well........ MOVING! with lotsa spray oil. This is particularly the case if you drive lots of miles and like mine ur car is dirty (5 quid for a hand car wash doesnt seem that bad now). If nothings bust it will open (and let me tell u when it does, you'll feel so damned relieved). if that doesnt do it take it to a mechanic cos u'll just frustrate urself and brake something. Good luck
