Problem for Toyota 1986 Pickup 4WD
Charge light and brake light remain on after starting
after starting both charge and brake light remain on. Sometimes they both go out after the truck has been parked overnight or for an extended period of time. Othertimes they will intermittantley go off and on while driving. what could be the culprit ?????

Weird that both will come on at the same time.
So, let's check one light problem at a time.
Brake light.
How is the brake fluid level?
Charge/battery light.
When you start the truck, and the charge light is on; leave the truck running. Disconnect the negative terminal to the battery.
If the truck stalls out, then the alternator is bad.
If the truck does not stall, then there might be a bad connection to the battery or the battery might be going bad.

The charge and the brake lights are designed to illuminate when the voltage regulator in the alternator fails.
Repce the alternator, and you will be fine.
