First, make sure you have the proper mix of antifreeze/water (50/50)
otherwise using the a/c will cause a boil-over, even if the system is OK. Second, be sure that the electric fan comes on when the vehicle goes to operating temp (about 210degrees (f). Otherwise, system will push coolant out of the system while driving and result in overheat at idle. Fan should be on every time a/c is on as well. If temperature is normal while on the highway, then the thermostat is good. Look for debris (leaves etc) stuck between the radiator and a/c condenser. That will restrict air flow at idle and can cause problems. An internal buildup inside the radiator will do this as well. If minor, then over the counter flushes may help. Problem is that sometimes the coolant/flush mixture will go around the blockage instead of removing it. Jeep radiators are very small...any blockage makes them "marginal" at best.Last, but very important is to carefully check everything over to make sure that there are no leaks or seepage in the system. Under pressure, what appears to be nothing, can amount to a substantial loss of coolant.
This sounds long and comples, but takes longer to write or read than it usually does to make these checks. If you need help with anything you find, just ask!!

Loosing anti freeze engine over heating

replace the viscous fan hub or check the electric fan operation as you do not have a forced air flow at idle. When the engine is working hard at low revs (pulling up hill) there is insufficient road air flow and at idle at lights there is no road air flow

Loosing antifreeze

fix the water leak at the heater first. You may be loosing pressure in the radiator allowing the coolant to boil at a low temp. This will pass water to the overflow bottle which is when you will be able to smell it

My van is leaking antifreeze for the botton of the car isee it dripping off the transmission pan it is over heating and i loosing a lot of antifreeze

you may have blown a manifold gasket. check oil and see if it is milky looking. Does oil pressure light come on? If so the gasket is blown. I had a leak once and it was ths gasket, but none was leaking into oil, just out onto the engine near the intake manifold. You may also have a corroded freeze plug. If you live up north and get a lot of snow and road salt, this could really be the issue. They are not easy to change on front wheel drive engines. Sorry. Have a great 4th of July.

leaking heater core or hose that feeds it. look for hoses that pass thru the firewall to passenger compartment. Most times the hose is clamped to a pipe at the firewall so you may just need a hose
