Question about 1996 Buick LeSabre

1 Answer

Car won't turn over right away

I have a 1996 buick LeSabre with about 107,000 miles on it. In February a car hit mine on the passenger side with the main impact being in the headlight area. The damage was very extensive and called for a new battery being installed. Since that time the car will not start after resting for 5 or more hours. I have taken it to a mechanic that is talented and trustworthy. I left it overnight and he got the problem to present itself again. He checked the fuel pressure and it was excellent. We tested the battery, starter and alternater and all was 100%. Here's the thing. If it doesn't start, I can turn the igntion five times (not to start the car but enough to turn radio on). I do this five times and the car will start almost every time. A co-worker suggested that something might be staying on after the car is turned off causing a slow draw from the battery, like an automatic starter. any ideas?

Water is draining inside the car on the passenger side when I run the air. When I take a right turn it leaks onto the drivers side. I am wondering where the drain hose is located. 1997 Buick LeSabre

find the rubber drain hose under the hood, coming out of the fire wall, its stopped up, clear or cut a little bit off the end of the hose.

What is the battery vent hose on the 2000 buick LeSabre for and can the battery be changed without putting the vent hose back on? I put a new battery in and accidentally broke the one side of the hose...

Since the battery is located inside the passenger compartment (under the rear seat), the vent hose is needed to vent the sulfuric acid fumes to the outside of the car - away from the passengers.

I have a 2003 buick lesabre. there appears to be a short in the fan- sometimes it goes on sometimes not. if i go over a bump, it turns on!

I assume you mean the fan for the interior.

The fan is located on the front passenger side (inside the car) compartment, and is mounted with 3 screws. You will need to lay on your back on the passenger side seat, then look towad the sky to see the fan screws (I can't remember if there are covers you have to remove to see the fan or not).

You will either need to get a replacment fan (try or I fixed my by removing the fan, then pushing the "brushes" (attached by wires) that go against the armature of the fan motor.

I have 178,000 miles on my LeSabre, and this was the problem with mine. I already have a new fan, but I have not replaced it yet. I did what I stated above, pushing the brushes toward the motor. There appear to be slots that the wires that attach to the brushes should slide through, but they end up holding the brushes away from the armature of the fan.

Mine has been working for over a year now with no problems.

2002 Buick LeSabre V-6 Fuel leak but cannot be located.

The fuel lines are steel except for the plastic ends where they need to be flexible for the push-on type connectors. If I am right, those plastic ends pass just under your cabin air intake. Just below that, is a common bend where the steel lines usually rot. If you have high miles they may be baked, or if you had recent engine work they may have been flexed to one side hard enough to split one the three. If one is leaking it is best to replace them all. Don't take chances with gas fumes or leaks. Do it right away!

1996 buick lasabre

A 1996 Buick Lasabre is a front wheel drive (FWD) car, so the front of the motor is facing the front passenger side wheel of the car. That said, the power steering fluid reservoir should be close to the front passenger side wheel tower.
