Obd1 code 26 oldsmobile 3.4 L engine 1993

Check engdine light is coming on only when i go over 15 mph. when at idle it's off or when i am slowing down. am getting 19mpg was getting 28 so it may be egr although the code is 26. when i look in the manual ir isn't even on the list. this engine looks like it was part of a change half way through the year some thing look like a 3.8 and reads 3300 on the intake manifold. i did some welding on the uniframe at the left rear and didn't disconnect the battery. the ground for the wire feed welder was 6 inches away so i don't think this was the problem. any thoughts?

SOURCE: engine light was on and engine idles rough.

these O2 sensors are cat convertor check sensors. id be checking cat convertors and hopefully you should try replacing if not all ready is the front bank 2, O2 sensor
if you have scanner can you see fuel trims in data display to confirm high fuel trim only on bank 2 either +-5 or more indicates problem and if bank 2 sensor 2 has fixed high 700mv reading cat no good(warm idling)

After awhile these idle screws don't have a lot of effect, the throttle body & injectors are also probably dirty. The 1.5 turns out from a soft seat is a starting point. Go another 1 to 1.5 turns out to find the sweet spot. Pour a can of Seafoam in with about 1/2 tank of gasoline. That will help clean the injectors & combustion chambers. Clean the throttle body with throttle body cleaner, make sure there is no carbon around the edges of the butterfly and where it seats.
The knocking on starts is most likely from worn bearings. It will knock until oil pressure builds up & is circulating through the journals. I hope this helps.

have u run a fault code test on the systems computer, this sounds like maybe a Vehicle speed sensor problem, the speed sensor is on the side of the transmission, but do the code test, here is how u do that, go to the link below for instruction's that apply to all Chrysler cars and trucks

Car forces me to slow down

I doubt it is a speed sensor. It is in the transmission near the passenger side cv axle. Have you scanned it for codes? You can do it with a paperclip.

Bucking, slow acceleration, & shuts off

it can be couple of thing Try a fuel injector cleaner or new fuel injectors.it can be vacuum leak. Engines need a vacuum to run especially at idle which is when your car dies. It could be a stuck EGR.
If the check engine light comes on it will store a code so take it to a shop and pay them to read the codes. This may give you a starting point.
