There are a few items that could be causing your condition.

I have them indicated in RED

First item would be to check the fuses.
Then Relays.
Then Pressure switch relay
etc.

Since it works when hotwired, I'm guessing its the blower switch. Below are instructions and diagrams should you try to change it out yourself. Best of luck.

  1. Remove the control unit, but don't disconnect the cables.
  2. Remove the knobs by depressing the spring retainer and pull the knobs off.
  3. Unplug the blower switch wiring.
  4. Remove the blower switch attaching screw

Have u tested the ac compressor cycling switch located in the low side line from the compressor? also a common failure is the AC compressor cycling relay also known as the WOT (wide open throttle) relay Jumper a wire across the AC cycling switch in the low side line, if the compressor runs replace the switch, if not then replace the relay which in in the power distribution box under the hood.

You have blown a fuse in the fuse box area. Either under the dash driver side. In glove box or under the hood near the firewall or battery box

AC don't work in 1998 ford mustang, does the CCRM need replaced?

just finished repairing this problem on 98 mustang, the fan didn't operate at full speed and a/c compressor had no signal, it was the ccrm, or air cond control module located on passenger side behind plastic inner fender, also accessible under hood if you remove air filter box and reach through hole, the replacement has to have the same large letter on top of module, example, mine had a large S, i think this corresponds to a letterin vin but not sure, but it does have to be the same. controls fan and speed of fan, fuel pump and a/c compressor

Ac on 2001 mustang worked fine yesterday now no ac what to do?

Check the AC fuse, It's located in the power distribution box under the hood, just forward of the strut tower on the drivers side.
It's a 20 Amp fuse in position 24.

The fuse block diagram is in the owners manual, if you don't have a owners manual, you can get it at this free Ford website to view or download.
It's on page 163.

You're on the right track. Look under the hood for a broken, cracked or dislodged vacuum hose. It's almost always the problem.

No power to AC compressor

well what you can do because your switch is bad is have a mechanic install a toggle switch that has to be flipped on before you turn on your ac and your compressor will go back to working normally. wired directly to battery is the only way to guarantee that you will get back to that ice cold as. ENJOY!!!!!!

AC.

Inspect all of the vacuum lines in the AC system under the hood. If one of these lines is cracked or broken the AC system will not be able to switch the vents over.
