Question about Cars & Trucks
The oil light should go off when the engine is started, if it stays on when the engine is running there is a fault in the lubrication system. Not enough oil in the engine or the oil pump is not working, damage is occurring to the engine bearings and the engine will fail big time! Other reason (hopefully) the oil pressure switch has gone faulty and not switching the light off. Needs checking out with a oil pressure gauge.

Double check how much oil is in the engine, it could be coming on because your low on oil. I can only think of two other possibilities either you have a bad oil sending unit or you have a problem with your oil pump.
