Sounds like you already have the 98 trans if you look at the Trans I.D. tag and the #'s are the same on yours and the 98 then it will work if not it will not operate properly. How do you know the trans is bad and please don't take this wrong I'm just asking ?? because you don't give enough info for diagnosis.

SOURCE: what model 4L60E tranny's can I put in my 1998

the way i figured which 4l60e works with my truck was to get the service number off of the ecm. Then I took that ecm service number and searched for it on ebay. People selling that same ecm will usually list what other vehicles that ecm works on. Then I went to the u-pull&pay and got a tranny out of one of those vehicles. I do know that after 95 there is an extra pin in the main wiring harness that goes to the PWM. My 94 tranny didn't have that pin. Also try pulling the main wiring harness out of your tranny and with a mirror look down into the tranny and get the pin configuration. Make sure the one you get also has that same pin layout.

SOURCE: will a 4l60e tranny from 1994

i do believe they are different transmissions. i know my '95 chevy pickup 5.7 is a one year only transmission for correct fit. best thing to do is call local junkyard. they have great interchange guides and could tell you if it will work and what things may need to be changed

SOURCE: Tranny

www.rockauto.com has an interchange guide .... have a look there and see if it will tell you. incidentally if you call a junk/recycling/wrecking yard... they will know as well

SOURCE: lost electrical power to transmission solenoids

Found the problem. It was the ignition switch. Not the ignition cylinder but the ignition harness also called the ignition switch. This is the short pigtail harness down by the floorboard. 112.00 dollars at oreilleys. I thank you for your time.

SOURCE: 93 chevy 4x4 with a 4l60e tranny. will a 98 tranny swap?

Nothing after 1995, because from 1996 on the transmissions are for OBD II. Your truck has OBD I.

Will the transmission from a 1998 chevy 1500 fit in my 2001 chevy 1500

The transmission in question is called, "4L60E" There are two versions. The 4L60E ran from 1992-1997. Then the 4L60E was updated and ran that version from (1996-2010). In 2002 GM introduced the 4L65E. So YES you should not have a problem fitting a 1998 chevy 1500 with a 4L60E into a 2001 Chevy 1500 with a 4L60E. You didn't mention that both were 2wd or 4wd. You can not convert a 2wd into a 4wd. I hope that helps, good luck.

4l60e interchange

have the make and model of your transmission identified by an auto transmission shop and they will tell you what you want to know as that transmission will be used in other cars. They will also be able to tell you of other models that will fit your car

Will a 1990 chevy 1500 truck 4x4 transmission fit in a 1997 4x4 chevy tahoe

yes it will as long as it is the same model transmission. As long as you get a transmission out of a standard cab truck you should be ok. ( for a good idea Most 88-98 gm trucks, full size blazers, jimmys, tahoes, and yukons will interchange) same chassis just different bodys and emblems

I have a 99 K1500 Suburban with a weak 4l60e trans. I have a 97 Suburban 4l60e trans available. Will they interchange?

yes. 96-99 are the same. 95 are different. 94-88 are the same. thats the most i can tell you off the top of my head. As long as the trannis are the same type they'll fit. For example a 700r4 from an 86 will fit into a 88 with a minor adjustment. But an 86 700r4 will not fit into a 86 that had a TH-400 without major changes. So as long as they're both 4L60E within the years mentioned above they'll interchange just fine.

Can the parts on a 97 isuzu rodeo interchange with a 99 honda passport

No...the 96-97 don't interchange with the 98-00....and even some of the 98 parts (the tranny for instance) don't fit on the 2000.

Type the part into this website

http://www.car-part.com/index.htm

If it only comes up in the 96-97 and not the 99, it won't fit.
