Question about 2004 Suzuki Vitara
This problem started manifesting itself 5 days ago and I did the alternator check routine and concluded that the altenator was ok. Bought a new battery 5 days ago and it lasted till last night. When I desconect one battery terminal and put it back, there is a spark going on between the terminal and the battery pole
You will have to disconnect 1 circuit at a time and find the problem, have many ideas at once, like 5 things changed at once, problem solved? 4 items were OK but you still don't know what the problem was. just 1 at a time

It could mean that some emission-control device has failed or is due for replacment. Common items would be oxygen sensor (not too expensive) and catalytic convertor (pretty expensive).

ddlucia: there is one fuse box located in the engine compartment.
it is a large black box. it will contain the headlight fuses.
The other fuse block is inside the passengers compartment.on the drivers side. some of the cars had the cruise control fuses in this panel others were in the engine compartment.

Check if there's a spark in the cable going to the distributor. If there's none then you may have a problem in the ignition system components. A defective air flow sensor can also cause a no start. If spark is present, you may want to visit the fuel system of your car.

turn the selection knob to auto and leave it there. the lights will automatically come on whenever the sensor on the dash trips. it takes a minute in a tunnel but you will never have to worry if your lights are on.
