Im working on a mitsubishi fusa diesel the vehicel will crank but one start

Check and bleed out any air from all bleed nipples. crack the injector line at the injectors and crank over until there is fuel dripping from the nut. tighten up as that will bleed out the ait in the injector lines . Ensure that the injector timing is correct and on the injection mark

If you have the 6.0 ltr diesel, then check the bowl where the 2nd fuel filter is, see if there is fuel in the bowl, if not then either your fuel pump which is on the frame under the driver's side in the water seperator/ heater has gone bad, or your filters could be bad, or the fuse to the fuel pump or the pump shut off switch which is located on the side panel at your feet on the passengers side, there is a reset button, make sure it has not popped and press it down, hopefully this helps, I had the same prob.

Sounds like you have the common problem with GM 6.5 diesel. The PMD ( pump mounted driver, the black box on side of injection pump is failing when it gets hot, cools down just a bit and restarts. Eventually it will leave you stranded.I would suggest replacing entire pum for warrant purposes, Sorry for bad news but I have seen many of these go bad. GM actually extended the warranty on these pumps to 10 years or 100,000 miles. This was not commonly known, even by dealers. It will be an expensive fix. Good luck. Please rate my answer

check fuel rail pressure with a gage from renting from auto shop shold hold 30 PSI for 60 seconds if not replace fuel pump.

the tachometer ( rev counter) get its impulses from the ignition system or in the case of a diesel from the crankshaft position sensor
if it runs with introduced fuel ( dangerous for a diesel) but then dies, that indicates insufficient fuel pressure to the injectors
could be a diesel pressure pump ( test to 25,000 psi) not producing sufficient pressure to work injectors
problem fuel supply to pump, tank venting, filters , air in system etc

I installed a crank sensor, timing and balance belt but now after it spinned over once it says nothing the cars a 01 Mitsubishi Galant 2.4


I just replaced my timing belt and water pump on my vehicle & aligned my camshaft and lower cranks. Worked for awhile then it shortly gave up i thought the belts came off but they did not. Now it cranks but wont turn over. i will redo it again later today. not sure what happened tightened or loosened it too much, im hoping i can get it going again. Need professional advice.

several possibilities
battery to low to spin the engine fast enough
sir in the system. electronic stop keeps the fuel shut off.
immobiliser not operational. can/crank position sensor problems. broken timing belt
glo-plugs not working
run the fault codes to see if any sensors are recorded.

the truth is , you didnt post country, nor engine size.
they match engine power to transmission (load rating)
so>? forget that.. that is for later.
IT DIED< so if the engine dont START the tranny issues are moot.
so does it crank.????
if it cranks , it next needs spark got spark to all cylinders.
that is if its not the Diesel engine, IS IT??

Cranks wont start


Check the fuel pump. Turn the ignition to the on position and listen close to the gas tank for the hum of the pump. Tap on the tank while the ignition is on to see if a little jarring will start the pump. In either case if no noise is heard you have the problem.

My truck wont start it was find but not it wont start it does crank and it sound like its going to turn on but it wont, is a diesel f450


Most probably air entered your fuel line going to the injector pump that is why the engine cranks but does not fire. You have to "bleed" the line. I'm not very familiar with F450 diesels but it's easy to locate the bleeder on the injector - it's a screw near the throttle. Loosen up the bleeder screw, crank the engine, if there's air in the line, bubbles will come out of the screw thread. Crank engine until only fuel comes out of the bleeder screw. When the engine is running already, tighten the bleeder screw.

Did you check to see if there is power to the glow plugs if not then that may be the problem and if there is power when you cycle the key not to start but for the plugs to warm up you may have a bad glow plugs.

Replaced headgasket now car wont start.


Hello, looking at the response from my colleagues I feel possibly they and you are looking in the wrong area.
You say it won't completely crank over? I hope you mean turn over manually by rotating the crankshaft pulley with a knuckle bar and not trying to turn over on the key?
Whenever I do a cambelt or head/gasket change to make certain I've got the cam timing correct I rotate the engine through 360 degrees to make sure! if it isn't correct the pistons will hit the valves and not Crank over completely as you put it.
So I would see if the timing mark on the Crank pulley, cam and if diesel pump align correctly.
