I would advise having a full inspection of the transmission before pulling it. as most times all it needs is sensors and band and clutch adjustment it automatic Have a pressure test done to determine internal problems first so you know what to fix..; If manual well that is another thing so come back and I will give you a datailed run on how to do it.

The radiator broke and fluids were mixed. I replaced radiator and tried flushing 12 x and still could not get clear liquid. Trans shop says it's probably shot. And it is all but impossible for me to flush the trans. So should I replace it? Wife drive it home not knowing what was wrong and the car was to the pointe it did not move at all. Tranmission problems

I assume this is an automatic transmission? (Otherwise, you control the shifting...)

Your transmission gears might be worn. You should take it to a reputable mechanic.

Dose the 2003 chevy silverado have a shift module on an aotomatic tranmission

You need to take this to a transmission shop and have them trouble shot this for you and then if you want to repair it yourself you can do so. This sounds like more happened than just a line breaking. Are you sure you don't have air in the lines. You might want to just crack the line open and see if there is air bubbles coming out.

Light on the dash looks like a tranmission

Then you have a transmission issue.
Check the transmission oil level and colour. Replace if necessary.
If no issue with the oil, then use a diagnostic computer to pull up any fault codes.

Hi Rodney, Have the vehicle scanned and diagnosed. That way you will know for sure where the problem is. I believe the problem is in the control system. Regards John

I need to know how to change the filter and transmission fluid on my illumina it is an automatic

You'll need to remove the transmission pan bolts and the pan on the bottom of the tranmission under the car. To remove the filter, pull down on the filter and remove. Make sure you have a large enough pan for the fluid, up to 8 quarts. Try leaving a couple bolts in the pan and loosen them slowly to drain the fluid out. Make sure you have the new filter fully seated into the transmission. Replace the pan gasket and reinstall the pan. Add new fluid and check the level.

Transmission stutters when vehicle comes to a halt

Your transmission has what is called a locking torque converter clutch, this clutch improves MPG, this clutch is electrically engaged and is supposed to dis-engage when you hit the brakes, yours is not doing that, and that is the shutter, have the transmission fluid changed, that in may cases fixes the problem, if it doesn't fix the problem u will need to pull the tranmission out and replace the torque converter.

Is the check enigne light on?

If not then it could be a trans issue. Check the fluid again to make sure it is level. put the truck on level ground and with it running and in park check the fluid. Add fluid if needed to bring to level. Then test drive. If it still does the same check the fluid level after driving to see if it REALLY hot. If so it could be a sign the tranmission is failing.

Onyl other thing i can think of have you replaced the tranmission filter? if it was really clogged up it may, long shot, cause what you are saying as well.
