A/c gurgling while accelerating...why?

My 1996 BMW 328i makes a gurguling noise when the a/c is on espicially if I am accelerating?. If i turn the a/c off the noise goes away... the a/c is blowing cold and holding charge, but does not blow out very hard... but the worse part is the gurguling noise it is making. Do you think the compressor needs to be replaced or is it related to something else specifically like a clutch? would it be safe to go with a remanufactured compressor and what should I expect to be done and cost?
