SOURCE: How to remove a tailgate

from a '02 Ranger...should be same...
rate me FIXYA!

  • disconnect tailgate stop cables
  • open tailgate normally...but stop when you are nearly halfway down (45 degree angle to ground).
  • now, pull tailgate away from bottom pivot (hinge) pin on either the left or right side of tailgate. This should allow both hinge pins to be free from the rest of truck.

SOURCE: tailgate will not unlock

It is the rear door lock actuator. It controls the window and hatch lock. Unfortunately the actruator is a dealer item and Ford does not sell the actuator by itself. You have to putchase the entire latch assembly whic comes with the actuator. It will run you about $150 for parts.

SOURCE: 2002 Ford Ranger Exterior Tailgate Handle Broken

There should be an access panel on the bed side of the tail gate. If you have a liner installed on the tail gate you will need to remove it to gain access to the panel. Panel is probably held on with torx screws but you may get lucky and have regular bolts. just remove panel and the lock rods are held to the handle with little clips, just pop them off and remove the nuts that hold the handle assembly onto the tailgate, install is just the revers order.

Where is the fuse for the rear hatch on a 1993 chevrolet blazer? My rear hatch will not open at all. I can hear it ttrying to unlatch the rear windoiw but nothing happens.

If you can hear it then you don't have a fuze problem. More than likely it can be fixed by adjusting the catch in the tailgate. Open you hatch with the key and lower the tailgate. Remove the tailgate interior panel/cover and you'll see the catch for the window. Adjust the catch a little, tighten it up, raise the tailgate and close the hatch. Try your release on the dash again and see if this fixes the problem. You may have to repeat this a couple of times until you get it adjusted to where it needs to be. If this works, then reinstall the tailgate interior panel and you're all done.

2003 Cadillac Escalade the layches on bothsides of tailgate will not lock to keep the tailgate closed

The latches are adjustable; look them over carefully ( vehicle side) to see if there are marks where they moved. Slightly loosen the latch mechanism and slide toward the back, the tighten. Do one side and test, then the other.

Tailgate won't shut properly

you could try adjusting the latch pillar, its the thing that sticks up, it should have 2 or 3 screws in it, loosen the screws do not remove completely, tap the latch pillar towards you, re-tighten the screws, then try that, if it dosnrt work the first time repete untill it does, do not adjust it to far just verry small adjustments or you will end up with a gap and it will let in water hope this helps

2001 frontier tailgate won't open

Remove the inner pannel. Then move the handle the connecting rod from the handle to the lock will move. Then pull or push the connecting rod helping the handle. When you get it open move the handle again if it moves freely then most likely the catch needs adjusting to adjust loosen the screws aroung the catch on the rear pannel move the catch out a little try closing the tailgate if it takes undue force to close then repeat moving the catch out until it is easy to shut simple rule is if it is hard to close then it will be hard to open! Leave the inner pannel off until you can easily open the tailgate with the handle as you may have to give the handle a helping hand to open until you have finished adjusting.
