Question about Cars & Trucks
Fuel pump is going, that's how the start to act up, does it stop running after it gets hot? They will tend to stop working when you are low on gas and the pump will get hot (the gas cools the pump) then after it sits for a little while the pump will cool down and the car will run finer until it gets hot again. This is typically what will happen to a bad fuel pump. Also make sure that the wires that go to the pump are energized when you turn on the key. You will hear a high pitched wizzing sound, that's your fuel pump spinning up to make pressure to the injectors. Check the fuel pump fuse and make sure it's pushed into the socket and making good contact.
Also you may need a fuel injector cleaning, this has to be done at a garage. Additives do not work! I had mine cleaned on my Mustang when I first bought it and what a difference it made, it would die as I shifted gears and several garages couldn't figure it out but the Ford dealer fixed it instantly for $70.

Testimonial: "Thanks for your information i dont have a wizzing sound at all i did check the fuses all seemed ok .is there any way i can check the solenoids on the fuel injector pump. Also if i am not getting this wizzing noise what does this mean a electrical issue ? .when the car is running it feels like there is no problems only when i am idling say at the lights then it misses a bit ad i have to give it a little more accelerator to prevent the car from stalling"
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I realise you have probably solved this problem by now so sorry for the late news mate . Had a similar prob and it turned out to be an alternator malfunction . I replace the brushes and off she went . These things send voltage from the alt . to a fuel pump relay or whatever so the pump wont run if the eng isn't (or the alt isn't outputting any voltage.) . Hope you already had it sorted . But I hope this helps if not . Cheers Simon .
