Is there an adjustment for the power window cables?

Most modern vehicles do not have window cables. Your particular Grand Am probably has a "half moon" flat gear and scissors arrangement for lifting and lowering the windows.

Window reg gone on a4 cab ? sorced new part just not sure how to fit

The best way to see how something goes is to look in a salvage yard. Someone probably already has taken the door panel off of a car similar enough so that you don't even have to do anything in order to see how it all goes together.

There are basically 2 main kinds of window regulators, gear and cable. Electric windows often use a twisted 2 rod pair to make a flexible continuous gear in effect. The gear kind generally mount in the middle and have a pair of arms acting like a scissors, while the flexible cable ones pull straight up and down in a middle track.

Power window on drver side does not go up and down, but you can still hear the motor working in it. It is a 2004 Kia Sedona EX

Motor works but window doesn't move. Remove the interior door panel from the door and you should see the track the window travels in. The motor is normally at the base of the door. There should be a plastic track that pushes the window up and down that the motor actually moves to operate. On some models there is an actual metal gear and scissor type function. In these types of window systems it is possible for the gears to lose contact and when that happens the window stops operating.

BMW Z4 righ door window glass has fallen, how do I put it back?

you have to remove the door panel, the door glass is on a steel runner, and that is on a scissor system, sounds like the runner has come off the scissor system, this is an easy fix,( if nothing is broken ), but takes a little time and care......approx 30 minutes

98 LEGACY DRIVERS WINDOW WENT DOWN AND WON'T GO BACK UP

in may not only be the window motor there is a scissor rail system in the door look at that first if the wheels are broken or not in the track it was have the same effect as a broken gear teeth in the motor i recently learned that once these wheels break you have to buy the whole motor and regulator set up wihch usually isnt cheap if it is the wheels the very effective and cheap way to fix this is to drill out the arm on the scissor go to a hardware store and get some sealed closet door rollers it works just as good or better than factory and trust me $5.00 and some work is way better than $175.00+ and a lot of work pulling the motor, please rate if this solves the problem.. thank you.

Gear shift is stuck in park

mine did the same, you need to stick a pen, or in my case a pair of scissors in the shift over-ride.
