1999 Cherokee, Changing out instrument cluster?

I have a 1999 Cherokee, with the plain instrument cluster that has the fuel gauge speedometer and idiot lights. I would like to change the instrument cluster panel for one that has the tach, oil and water temp, voltage, fuel gauge and speedometer. Unfortunately I cannot find any panels that are like that for a 1999 Cherokee. I did find a 2001 Cherokee panel that is what i want. If i buy it will I be able to plug it into the existing cable and will it fit. What do I need to do to make it compatible if not??? Please help, Thank you!

don't know for sure, but I';m going to stay on the side 'cause someone asked me to do the same on their 98...I can't see that the manufacturer would make two different harnesses, but would like to be sure.

So what about changing the sensors after swapping the dash gauges??? Only ones I can think of that would need to be changed would be temp and oil pressure???

Any cluster from "97" to "01" are the same and interchangeabe all sensors are the same as well. IC13 on circuit board holds milage memory.

Unfortunately I believe this can not be done because the sensor for idiot lights are different from the sensors for gauges. I don't know this for an absolute fact but in most instances this is true.

Speedometer ,fuel gauge not working

Check the instrument cluster fuse located underneath the drivers side steering wheel (bottom left side). Remove the fuse box cover lid and then flip the plastic fuse box cover over and you will find a small diagram showing where this fuse is located. Replace the fuel and instrument cluster fuse with a new one of the same number amp. Next, check the speedometer cable to see if it is binding or disconnected. This may be two separate problems, the fuel guage not working is a sign that the fuel sending unit inside the gas tank has failed.

88 eldorado instrument panel is dead, including speedometer and fuel gauge. None of the digital instrument panel gauges are lit up. How can I troubleshoot this problem? TJ

It sounds like the problem is your dash cluster itself. you should be able to find another dash cluster for an 88 DeVille in almost any junk yard.

I have an 04 chevy silverado v6.3, and my dash doesnt work none of the gauges speedometer, fuel, nothing works, but they did yesterday. What could this possibly be?

The stepping motors in the gauge go bad, but uusually they fail gradually, or just one, The dealer charges $300 to fix, do a search on ebay for CHEVY SILVERADO INSTRUMENT CLUSTER for cheaper repair options. gauges are powered by the pcm, no fuses inbetween, so if it runs ok, problem is in cluster
