SOURCE: Reverse lights and license plate light dont work

Try link below, may point you in right direction, but you'll have to scroll down & find what you need. Otherwise I'd start from bumper with test light & work my way back toward front harness, after all fuses, plugs etc been checked.

SOURCE: License plate light hookup

Hi,you should have the original licence plate light wires, if these are a different colour from the ones on the new bumper you will have to splice the originals to the new ones use a test lamp/meter to test for the live feed and connect this to the red wires then connect the black wires and join these either to a good earth point or the other wire which should be ground.

SOURCE: How to attach a front license plate to 2007 Highlander?

The option is to get a bumper that has the license plate mount on it or buy a mounting kit but you will have to drill holes into the bumper. The clearance below the bumper does not allow you to hang it from below. Wish you had more options. Here in NJ we have the same problems when cars are bought in Pennsylvania!!

Tag light is not working. is there a fuse that will get the light turned back on?

The fuse labeled REAR PARK LP 15A in the right instrument panel fuse box powers the rear park lamps, and the tag lamps. If your rear park lamps are working then you most likely need to replace the tag lamps (bulbs). Use the following procedure to replace the lamps.

To Remove:
  1. Remove the two mounting screws from the license plate lamp.
  2. Remove the license plate lamp from the rear bumper fascia.
  3. Remove the license plate lamp socket by turning it counterclockwise.
To Install:
  1. Install the license plate lamp socket by turning it clockwise.
  2. Position the license plate lamp to the rear bumper fascia.
  3. Install the license plate lamp mounting screws.

push the light from inside your bumper to the outside. May have to tap with a hammer or wrench. New light will push in from the outside toward the inside. Reconnect the wire and you should be up and running!

try using self tapping screws so you dont have to remove it, you can drill pilot holes if the screw wont go thru easy, and you dont need a nut/bolt
