Question about 2006 Chevrolet Malibu

I start the car the accelaeration is very poor

On two seperate occasions, each a week apart, I start the car and the accelaeration is immediately very poor. If I had pressed the gas pedal down any further than halfway, the RPM's woulde increase acordingly, but there would be absolutely no acceleration. I had to only press the gas pedal very slightly to achieve any accelaration and if the car had to stop at a light or a sign, accelerating became very difficult again. This happened twice on two seperate occasions several hours later when I started the car again, the problem was gone. I am not sure if this is a spark plug related problem, but the malibu has 43,000 miles on it and hasn't had a tune-up.

I dont think it is related to your over-due tune-up. It is still a good idea to see if you need anything. Check for clogged filters, defective plugs(should have iridium style plugs, good up to 100k miles), wires, and vacuum lines. If the engine light is on then have the codes read it could be valuable. But if there isn't a light, then it should be related to something mechanical.

normal ,if you disconnect the battery it will lose all the readings as no battery is used on the back of the dash unit .Now if your losing readings without disconnectiing the battery then you may need a new speedo head ,expensive just ignore it who needs to know what the trip meter read anyway

Bad Constant Velocity joint in the half shaft, on one side. Probably the outside CV joint on the half shaft. Which side Left or Right? Dunno, you didn't state which way you were turning. An inspection by a competent mechanic is warranted now. You don't EVEN want a CV joint to go bad at high speed!
