Posotive can be found in hood driver side next to fuse box. It is a small rectangle box. You can hook negative to any solid ground on the car.

I have the same issue (battery is completely dead in my 1998 Mercedes C280 and I can't pop open the trunk). I looked under the hood and have no idea where the positive charging post would be - can anyone help me find it? Thanks

How do I insert trunk stays in 2005 XJR

Do you mean the gas struts that hold up the trunk lid? They are usually secured by a single stud at each end which you just unbolt and replace the strut while an assistant supports the trunk lid. Or they are fitted to small ball type mounts in which case carefully pry the strut off and pop the replacement back on again while the lid is supported.

Trunk lid will not stay up can you help me.

You have small struts that hold the trunk open and they do wear out over years of use, but are especially prone to not doing their job when the temperature is very cold. Those struts are not too expensive ($20-$25) and are usually pretty easy to replace.

VickiMy trunk does not stay open, does it need a fuse?

Nice Car...the trunk is supported by 2 rod/struts one on each side, attached to the rear car body, and the trunk...these struts wear out and the symptom is the trunk will not stay up by itself...these rod/struts are available at most Auto Parts Stores...or definitely on the internet...the best manufacturer if replacement hood and trunk struts is "Mighty Arm" available on the internet...prices vary by car make and model...pretty easy to change...a good Auto Parts person might help demonstrate the easy switch out...:)

2002 Chrysler Sebring Convertible - Trunk lid will not stay open

All gas charged supports are not created equal. I recommend using O.E. for this application.
Snow, ice and trapped water make the lid heavier than it should be make sure these are not the issue.

Hello, I'm not sure if you are talking about the lid that you have to open to get to the fuel filler cap or the cap itself. If it's the fuel filler cap that you are talking about, you will need to take a pair of channel locks or equivalent and grab the two metal pieces that are about 3/8" wide, hold the cap with one hand and turn the pliers with the other until it snaps back on top of the ex centric.
If it's the actual lid that won't open, it is a vacuum problem. You can try to leave the car running, then work your locking system back and forth with the key in the drivers door. That should get the trunk unlocked. If you can get the trunk open, look to the upper right in your trunk and should see a round pull knob, pull it and your lid will open.
I hope this helps.
