91 Honda Accord wont start after it warms up

I live in California, its about 105 outside, never had any problems with it not starting untill yesterday when I stopped to get gas, I cranked the car over but not enough so it stalled, I tried starting again and it wouldnt start. Ive been reading blogs on here with the similar problem. I let the car sit for a couple hours and what you know it started. I had to give it a lil gas though for it to start. Is the problem the main relay????

Thanks for the reply, Yea I diffenatly know its not the main relay because my fuel pump is humming and clicking when i turn the ignition. But do you know if the main relay could just mess up when your driving the car when its hot? I have another car so I havent drove it since it wouldnt start back up. Like I said it did start in the morning though I let it idle for about 10 minutes turned it off and it wouldnt start again. I just bought the accord in November, when I bought it I did a tune up on it, replaced spark plugs, wires, rotar, air filter, flushed radiator, thermostate, pcv valve. It does have 176,000 miles. Im thinking it could be either the ignition switch or ignition control module. Im just kinda lost because when I push on the gas when im starting it, it starts up. It realy acts like it has something to do with not getting fuel, anyway ill replace both parts friday and ill post what happend. Thanks again for your reply

I just want wanted to update people on my 1991 accord not wanting to start. The problem ended up being the Crankshaft Posistioning Sensor insided the distributer. So I just replaced the whole distributer with a distributer I found on ebay for $80 ( I saved about $180 seriously ) and what you know the car started right up, been starting with no problem for almost a week now and not stalling at all.

I had the same problem with my Accord whenever it was in the heat for a couple of years. If you let it sit it would always start. I recently bought a place in the desert and that compounded the propblem as it is always hot. I replaced the main relay and to problem is solved. How I can always count on it to start. Good Luck!!

No, the main relay isn't the problem. Most likely, the high temp made it a bit more difficult to start, then it sounds like it may have 'flooded' (too much fuel, since it had trouble starting right away). Letting it sit for awhile will solve a fuel flooding problem. Make sure the coolant level is where it should be, and car is not due for a tune up. Extreme heat or cold is tough on an engine, and a few small problems can prevent the car from starting in those conditions. How long has it been since plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, rotor, fuel and air filters have been replaced? Just make sure you keep up on the maintenance, and remember. the accord is getting on in years. How many miles? Good luck with the Honda, it's a great car (I have a 91 Prelude and a 92 Accord).

Similar problem with mine. Just changed the dist. in my 92 yesterday-cylinder #1 position sensor in dist., tach was going crazy and making noise, was stalling a lot, solved all problems. Thanks for your update, glad to hear yours is also running well again!

Why wont my 94 accord 4 cyl start when its warm out?

A common problem with no-start Honda cars is the fuel pump relay under the dash.
I would check that first. Could also be a faulty coil.

91 accord won't start while warm

Easy, replace the pgmfi / main relay, way up under the dash on the drivers side. It's about1x1x2 inches and says "mitsuba" on the side.

Wont Start when its hot outside

Check out this link. I just type you a long paragraph on here but i don't think it took. Anyway, It was the main relay located under the steering wheel. Same thing was happening and the car cranks fine after replacing it. 25 dollar part.http://www.cb7tuner.com/vbb/showthread.php?t=53888
