Well friend, you know the dash gage is good cause that was a proper test procedure. Since your not getting proper readings it has to be the sending unit. Pull it apart and clean the rheostat with a pencil eracer and light pressure, the assemble it and try it again. if still nfg, replace the sending unit. they're cheap from any auto parts store.

1970 Ford F100 Gas Gauge Not Working

It may be the sending unit in the tank that needs replacing. Here's how you can check: Turn the key on and disconnect the sender unit at the gas tank. Ground the sender unit's wire with a jumper wire from the truck's harness to ground. Watch the gauge. If the gauge on the dash is good, grounding the sender wire will cause the gauge needle to react and should move to full. This would indicate a new sending unit is required. If the gauge doesn't move when the sender unit is grounded, the gauge is bad and needs replacing. Pull the instrument cluster out to replace the gas gauge. Likely any old ford gas gauge might work-back then, there were not so many production changes.

check to make sure you have power going to sending unit on the tank,if yes, make sure you have a good ground.check all connections. As long as the float has not broke off the sending unit inside the tank, you should be able to fix it easily

1999 Dodge Ram truck. last night i put $50. in gas... started the truck and the gas gauge hit "empty". the electronic mileage counter gradually dropped til i made it home. could this be a shot...

Sounds like you have lost power to the sender, or just a bad sender, which is located in the tank unfortunately. Try to find the the wires going to the gas tank and test them for power with a stab light.

I need a detailed diagram of a 307 V8 motor for a 1970 chevy nova

Your best bet is to get yourself a repair manual from chiltons or strate from G.M. Most all your major auto parts stores have web sites you can go to and get the information and diagrams you need also. A repair manual is best. You also can get them thru Year One. National Parts Depot. Original Parts Groupe, Jegs, and Summit Racing. for your particular project.

Fuel pump won't pump

its a power or ground issue to the pump pcms can be expensive..I would add power from an aftermarket relay to the pump triggered by the ignition switch .Add a fuse and your good to go...check to see if the ground is ok add another if in doubt.
