It might be the shiftlock. On newer cars you have to press the brake pedal in order for it to shift out of park. There is a manuel override in the owners manuel. There is a switch on the brake pedal that would need to be replaced.

Do not have a diagram but there is alot of work changing rear axle seals
or seals to the 3rd member. Please buy a manual that show all the procedures for the job. It' makes the whole repair easier. I've been there - Good luck

could be a number of things but the simplest answer is the vacuum hose between the inlet manifold and brake servo is cracked and leaking air.you brake.the car stops.
