SOURCE: no heat

There should be a thermal coil in it. I know that mid 90's dodge trucks had it mounted under a cover in the engine compartment by where the heater coil on the passenger side. It's about 2 to 3 inches long. Check on that it actually regulates the heat from your heater. Also check for any antifreeze leaks or sweet smell from your heater, this will be the first signs of it being the heater coil.

SOURCE: heater does not work. Full coolant new thermostat

Go to auto parts store and buy a coolant system flush kit and flush the system. It doesn't take much to restrict the flow in your heater core, and I guarantee that is your problem. I have seen this many times.

SOURCE: got no heat

check to see if there is a white or milky look to your oil and see if the temp is normal or high if that is good then it is probably the blend door in the heater box

Probably not water pump. Engine is notourious for vapour lock.
Cooling system must be blead of air before thermostat will work. Cool bottom rad hose is a dead give away. If you are still watching this forum reply , and I will walk you through the only way I know how to make it work properly. It's actually easy if you do it my way. I have worked on lots of cars , and this engine was the hardest to bleed out. Did one Yesterday , and works perfect.

Check for a clogged or defective radiator. The inner parts you can't see could be the source of the problem.

97 Kia SPORTAGE : No heat, blower works, AC works,

Did you bleed your system of air???....usually a bleed screw near the thermostat housing...get allllll the air out...simetimes the heater core is at the highest oart if the system..therefore if there is air in system..thats where the air settles and no coolant will flow through the heater cire!!

How do you properly bleed the coolant system on a 1994 Toyota Celica 1.8 stx?

If even possible, it sounds as though your water
pump is not turning the right way

It isn't even moving any water & that is all
you worked on, unless the thermostat somehow
could go in backwards

I put a new thermostat in my 1994 ford escort, and still dont have warm heat while my heater is on. How do I test to see if I have a bad waterpump?

If it where your water pump isthe vehicle would overheat. After you replaced the thermostat do you run the engine at idle with the radiator cap removed until the radiator fan came one? This will help push the air out of the system. There are two other possibilities. 1. The heater core is plugged. Back flushing the heater core may help remove the built up debris and get you heat again. 2. The blend door may not be fully transitioning from cold to hot. You should be ale to hear a district change in how the air sounds when switching from full hot to full cold. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. You made no mention of thermostat or radiator cap, both are common problems. The cap you can have tested at any good auto parts store, to see if it's holding adequate pressure.

The heater in my 1990 olds wont heat up we checked the fluids they are fine and we put in a new thermostat. the heater just blows cold air

Here's a couple of other things to check;
Make sure heater control valve is working - feel the heater hoses w/heater on. Both hoses should feel warm/hot. Test or replace your radiator cap - it may fit tight but they do lose their ability to hold adequate pressure. Make sure fan belt is tight and not glazed - loose or glazed belts will slip through waterpump pulley not spinning waterpump at correct rpms

Overheating

you have air trapped in the system. very hard to "BURP AIR"

park uphill on ramps if possible. With cold engine, leave radiator cap loose and fill radiator and reservoir. run engine until thermostat opens. squeeze upper radiator hose with hand. SHould be hot. Have heater on hot and blower on too. Repeat as necessary. May take several attempts.

Go here and we can help if that does not work
