You can also go to your local Public Library and Search for a Chilton's Auto Repair Manual for Toyota Cressida 1989 (I think they share this manual with the Corolla model). It's free, with your library card, and this will get you a wiring diagram. What else shares the brake fuse (like hazard lights, turn signals). Make sure that whatever circuit sharing that fuse also works. Your brake switch located behind the brake pedal is a quick fix.

Toyota yaris 2006 model, tail lights not working, globes and fuses ok, cant trace the problem

When you say taillights do you mean running lights or do stop and turn signal lights also malfunction? If running lights only then most taillight circuits run through the headlight switch which is probably bad.

1989 toyota cressida location of all fuses instrument, tail lights won't work

Hi, I have circled the fuse in question. If the fuse is burned, the problem may be due to an improperly wired aftermarket stereo. If you have an aftermarket stereo and this fuse keeps burning, please get back to me.

I have a 1989 Buick Park avenue. A month ago all of the back lights stopped working. Tail lights, brake lights, reverse lights.

Check your fuses underneath the drivers side steering wheel. Flip the plastic cover over and there will be a diagram showing the fuse that controls the taillights/stoplamp. Pull the fuse out and replace it with the same number fuse and your taillights and brake lights will work again. If the fuses are ok, pull each taillight bulb out and replace it with a new bulb. Sometimes when one light bulb fails, all of them will fail.

Brake box in the trunk

The small box that you are describing is the "taillamp sensor". All of the power for the taillamps runs thru this box, and then to the taillamps, and its basic function is to determine the voltage "draw" on the taillamp circuits. When the draw is incorrect, as in a burned out bulb, this box lights up the "taillamp failure" bulb on the dash panel. You are going to need to visit a Toyota dealer's parts dept to purchase the taillamp sensor box. It is not available in the aftermarket.
