Question about 1985 Chevrolet Chevy

1 Answer

Hesitates when asked for speed

When I go to pass on the highway My Optra wagon sometimes takes a few seconds to give me extra speed also when I go to move away after a stop sign it hesitates. It also runs rough at lights when stopped.None of these things happen all of the time and no engine check light comes on. It does not happen in damp weather or any other condition that I can identify.I have taken it to the dealer who says without seeing it or getting an engine check message he can do nothing.I would be grateful for any ideas.Thanks.Helpless.

Your check engine light would only come on usually when it has something to do with your emmision sensors like you oxygen sensor. well try checking your vacuum pressure and see if thats good or you can try and change your vacuum lines.

What is the drive cycle for a 01' Chevrolet Venture?

Drive cycles can be done in about an hour. 15 minute intervals.
First at highways speeds. Second at 45 MPH. Third at 30 MPH. Fourth at stop and go traffic. So from the highway to the city. Or replicate it on country roads. Just a note. drive cycles don't really effect emissions. You may won't check state requirements, or take it to another shop. or ask another shop.

Why is my transmission struggling to maintain gear at 35 mph?

I would take it to 2 or 3 or more different shops and ask for an estimate to fix it.. they will probably know what causes this condition. and probably will not charge you anything.. if they want to charge you for an estimate go somewhere else. you really do not want to trust them.. When you get several estimates and several of them tell you the same thing then its a matter of who do you trust??.. Check the shops out on Yelp.. actually sounds like it could be something simple like throttle presure adjustment.. But i cannot see your car from here.

Intermittent stalling

Two - from experience
1. Your fuel filter is 98% clogged - something sloshes around and it goes to 100% clogged and your stop. When you stop, that last 2% falls to the bottom of the filter. You fire it up and get going - repeat.
2. Your coil pack is bad and or the wires. The coil gets hot - plastic expands - begins to arc - and you stop

1 is more likely I think, especially if the service engine light is not on.

What could be causing my 1997 Ford E350 15 pass.club wagon to have excessive vibration when braking from highway speeds 60mph & up. Not so bad at slower speeds? Ford Tech said brakes were good. No...

ABS------ Anti Lock Brakes will cause a chatter if applied with a lot of weight pushing it. An E350 is a big rig.
Might ask your Ford Tech about that possibility.

Car hesitates while driving on highway. with AC on

Check for any vacuum leaks by spraying WD-40 all around the top section of the engine while it is running. If you here the engine start to stumble then concentrate the spray on that area until you locate a loose or worn vacuum line. Also you may have to have your throttle position switch(tps) and or your crankshaft position sensor(cps) tested for integrity.
