There are to switches. One is behind the brake pedal and the other is under the counsel attached to your shifter. Sounds like one of these switches is bad.

The key wont come out of my car HELP

The steering is locked as the key is removed so it is clear quite a lot happens as the key is being removed. The inside of the steering lock is fairly complex and it would seem one of two things is happening or not happening; either the mechanism that releases the pawl that locks the steering is jammed or something has broken inside the lock preventing the steering lock being turned fully anti-clockwise into the position where the key can be withdrawn. In either case it is likely the only cure is the replacement of the lock assembly, lock barrel and key.

Removing the steering column shroud and tapping the lock body while working the key could temporarily release it but it is unlikely.

The shift interlock button wont release the gear shift to go in park or drive

Its a simple fix - you just need to put your right hand underneath the dash, under the ignition switch with the stuck key, and feel around for the stiff transmission-shift-lock cable, and just giggle it about a bit. Try all directions, don't be aggressive with it; and eventually you will be able to turn the key to the LOCK position. Good luck

I took the cover off the steering column by removing 4 screws. (I had to remove the dash by removing 2 screws behind the Hood release and yanking the cover off. This is how you gain access to the two forward most bolts on the steering column cover.) From hear you should see the shift interlock on the top right of the sterring column. Pull the white lever to release the key lock. Turn the key to lock and remove your key.
I would then purchase a new interlock and replace it.

'Steering column locked' is displayed when key

I assume the car is locking and the alarm is working correctly? Try leaving the car locked then open the drivers door using the key, as soon as you open the door you should hear a chime - this is counting down to sound the alarm. Put your key into the ignition as soon as you can and try starting the car - if the problem is the same it would point to the key possibly having a faulty transponder within it or the locking module sensor or unit cannot see the key at the ignition barrel. have you another key to try. (The key itself has an identity separate from the key fob part) You will need to visit a good repair shop or the Jaguar main dealers who will have the equipment to scan the system to identify the faulty part. Other possible scenario is that there is a large current fault that is draining/shorting the system as you attempt to start
hope this helps - good luck.

How do you unlock the steering wheel without the keys ? so the car can be toed?

There might be a metal steering wheel lock release button under the dash in the steering column. but im not for sure on that. if you cant release it just get a flatbed tow truck. they will still be able to tow it.

Car won't start, message says steering lock on

Try to turn the key to II-position. Then lock and unlock the doors with the remote. This will 'reprogramme' the key. Sometimes the immmobilizer chip will give the steering lock -code.

Hope this helps.
