Hi I have a 99 Voyager and it has a spring release emergency brake. I recently pressed the brake in when I parked, and when I can back to leave my Emergency brake would not release. I need Help!

Try pushing it down with your foot again and pulling up on the release at the same time. This should release it. Also try backing up while you pull the release. Sometimes this will jar the cable to release. THe cable may need to be replaced

Emergency brakes not working

Could be several different things that may be causing the parking brake. The sierra uses a simple cable pull system. If the cable becomes loose you will not have emergency/parking brakes. If the cable is tight then the shoe located inside the rear brake drums is worn or broken. If there is no cable coming from the parking/emergency brake pedal inside the cab then it has been either broken out or removed at some point, which is easy to do if taken off-roading.
Keep in mind that only the rear wheels have parking/emergency brakes. Front wheels have none.

Emergency brake is engaged and i cant figure out how to release it? its a 1989 cadillac sedan deville

Hello, Look up under the dash next to the inside of the car, between the foot pedal for the park brake assembly, on the park brake assembly there should be a short lever, it may even be yellow on the end. pull it back toward you, that should release the park brake. The System is suppose to release automatically when you put the car in gear. It works off vacuum, the switch is mounted on top of the steering column and the actuator is mounted on the park brake assembly

Can a seized emergency brake be unseized or do you

You do not need to remove it. Trace the cable back to the rear rotor(s). Grab a pair of pliers and some WD-40. Spray the E-brake cable with WD-40 and have a helper pull the E-brake lever inside the cab. Take your pliers, grab the cable and begin pulling the cable back and forth near the E-brake until it releases. You may have to ask your helper to release the cab lever a few times as you continue to rack the cable back and forth. Fairly easy, however, if the cable is rusty, it may take up to 30 minutes to release.

Emergency break cable broke on 2004 silverado

I had the same problem on my 2003. Open the driver door all the way. Get on your knees just outside the door. Follow the plastic tub that holds the parking brake release cable inside the truck. Start from the release lever and follow to the end of the tube. There will be a metal lever that the cable was attached to before it broke. You have to pull that lever with your hand to release the parking brake. Very Important!!!...Hold the parking brake activation pedal with your other hand when you release the brake. Let the pedal out slowly when you pull the metal release lever. The pedal will come back very fast and you could injure yourself if you are not careful. Good luck!

2004 honda crv brake won't release

Your emergency brake is a mechanical brake system that is indipendant of the regular hydrolic system. If the red brake light on the dash is on make sure it's the emerg. brake and not a problem with the fluid level or the calapers sticking. the best way to check the emerg. brake is to rase both rear wheels off the ground and spin them. If they spin, the emerg. brake is not locked up. If they don't spin, take the rear tires off and the brake drums. (you may have rear disk brakes.) check the springs to insure they are all hooked up properly. If there is no problem there, follow the parking brake cable to check for damage. The cable is like a brake cable on a bike, If the inner cable is binding inside the cable sleeve, the brake wont release. If you have rear disc, it's probly a bad calaper. The park brake cable is attached to the calapers. Rember if it wont run it's annoying but if it won't stop, it's deadly. DON"T experiment with brakes!!! If in doubt, take it to a pro.

Emergency brake stuck, pedal release broken

What happens is the brake cables rust inside the cable sheath and then they won't slide easily. There's no good fix for this other than replacement. It's not easy to even find where they are stuck. It might be possible to find the end of the cables at the back wheels and pull the cables back---to release the tension

Can't get parking brake to release, does this car have a release

FROM LUSTY KID:

Some cars release the emergency brake when you put them in drive, provided you have your foot on the brake first. naturally.

The other possibility, your brake cable is rusted or corroded inside the sleeve and is jammed so it will not release. You might need to replace the whole emergency cable.
