I have a 1995 ford ranger in great condition the abs light is on how do I get it to go off thanks donald

Your ABS system is stand alone and performs a self test everytime the key is cycled on. You will need to have the ABS computer scanned by a scan tool that can access it. The ABS module will tell you where to start on repairing the fault.

Front brakes keep locking up i have already this week changed both front calipers brake flex lines the abs light on and stays on what is wrong now

OK, the abs light being on will mean that the ABS (Antilock Braking System) is disabled completely.

That means, that the front wheels will lock up instead of pulsing like normal under a lock up condition at the rate of 5 or 6 pulses a second.

I think that you need to look at broken connections to the wheel speed sensors, or possible replacement of speed sensors after scanning the OBD-II ABS data link with an ABS Brakescan tool such as Actron's ABS Brakescan Tool which is made just for this purpose and sells for around $100 plus shipping off of

I think that Plain English explanations are available on this tool that will point you in the right direction as to which wheel(s) or circuitry to look at.

Good luck on this repair.

99 chevy blazer the abs light stays on all the time

There are several reasons why the abs light would come on. Mostly a bad tone ring or sensor within one of the front wheel bearings is bad. To truely know what the actual reason for the light you will need to have a local repair shop or your local auto parts store scan the abs system with a scan tool equipped with abs software. An easy way to rule out a bad wheel bearing , is to raise the front wheels and check for movement in the wheel up and down.

My abs light stays on 1995 chevy G20 van and have to replace front brakes every 6 months but rear brakes show no wear and are atleast 3 yrs old. On slick pavement right front brake sometimes locks when...

I'd be checking the sensor (ABS) at that wheel, (right front) and adjusting rear brakes to proper clearance, as well as inspect them for proper operation with wheels off.

Abs light

Turn on ignition switch and system should chk itself. If all is right the light should drop out..You may have to drive it for the sensors to register presence.

1999 Chevy Blazer ABS Light and Parking Brake Light

You will need to find out which speed sensor has gone bad. Only way to know it to hook it up to a scan tool. The burning smell is possibly a caliper sticking as these vehicles are bad about them sticking after brake pad replacement.
