You can't. You need to see the dealer to have the system scanned for faults.

Hi Charlie.....when you lock your windows ? I didn`t know you could " lock the windows " -- my `04 doesn`t have that feature ... you don`t mean lock your ya ???

bummer..I was just at the dealer for an oil change and switch my winter over to summer tires....I would have asked then...

unfortunately Charlie...I have never had that problem ... sounds like something to do with the wiring ??? does the sound come back when you unlock them ?

other than that.... how do you like your Subaru ??? how many yrs you`ve been driving ?

Checking and replacing power steering fluid

1. Open the hood of the vehicle.

2. Look for the power steering fluid reservoir.

3. Raise the reservoir and disconnect the hose that goes to the oil cooler.

4. Connect a hose of suitable diameter to the disconnected hose that goes to the oil cooler and put the hose end in the fluid jar.( be careful not to spill the fluid on the painted area of the body. Wipe off spilled fluid at once.)

5. Start engine and let it run at idle. Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock position several times. When fluid stop running out from the hose, shut off the engine. Discard fluid that was drained from the reservoir.

6. Re-fit the return hose to the reservoir.

7. Fill the reservoir to the level mark.

Note: Use only fluid that is recommended by the manufacturer.

8, Start engine and run it at fast idle. Turn the steering wheel from lock to lock position several times in order to bleed air that is present inside the system.

9. Recheck the fluid level. Add some if necessary.

Note: Do not fill the reservoir beyond the upper limit

Wrong power steering Fluid

open the oil return to the reservoir and drain out the wrong oil. refit the hose and refill with the right oil . run and turn the wheel from lock to lock to remove air and old oil. remove the hose again and repeat the process several times until clean oil comes out the return line . Refit the hose and fill with the correct oil.

Wont start takes hours to start again

.When the injectors leak they flood the engine and holding pedal to the floor or waiting hours for fuel to dissipate. See if you have spark and fuel when it wont run. If there is no spark check the electronic control module under the cap

My 1991 honda civic wont start. when i turn the key the engine turns over but it never actually starts to run. it smells like gas. we tried the main rely, but that didnt work either?

The cylinders are probably washed down with fuel and it doesn't have enough compression to start. You need to also check to see if it is getting ignition spark. There are several thing it may be. The quickest thing you can try is let it sit overnight and then in the morning push the gas pedal to the floor and try starting it to clear flood it if it is not starting due to being flooded and cylinders being washed down with fuel. You should pull out a spark plug and see if its wet with fuel. If it is remove all the plugs and dry them out and maybe squirt a very small amount of oil down each cylinder to help seal the rings to bring up the compression. Do not get carried away with putting oil in the cylinders so you dont hydro lock the engine.

Had the oil changed at walmart they put a fram filter on it and the filter caved now the motor appears to be locked up if the oil pump went out would it appear that the motor was locked up my husband...

Yes it is bearings, rings, and part of the cylinder. If the oil pump went out the motor would lock up. The oil pump pumps oil throughout the motor. If the pump quits, it is just like running the engine without any oil at all. Without oil pressure then the motor would lock up because nothing in the engine would get any lubrication. Don't think it has anything to do with the oil and filter. Probably just a faulty oil pump. I have heard of Walmart not putting oil back in cars, and causing them to lock up. But if you had oil in the car, and it has metal shavings, then it is more than likely the oil pump just quit.

Steering went stiff very suddenly on 2000 F-150. Auto store ''experts'' say it is the power steering pump. Need a schematic to replace it and instructions on bleeding air from the lines after...

PS pumps are pretty straight forward. You don't have to worry about bleeding the lines. Just replace the pump, fill reservoir to full mark on dip stick, start engine. Run steering wheel from lock to lock, check oil level. Repeat until oil level remains at the mark.

from outside the car make sure all doors a closed completely, make sure hood and trunk are also closed. lock the vehicle with the remote, unlock it and repeat, lock and unlock. if it still wont start, put the key in the driver door lock, lock and unlock the door three times with the key, then try to start.
