Check the fuel pump.

    Compare the rating of the two fuel pumps then check the fuel tank for any possible dirts. Also check all the hoses to see if there's no blockage.

Have you got normal fuel pressure at the injectors ?
Are the injectors getting power and ground pulse from the computer ?

My 88 Beretta started making backfire noises and then died. I had to drive it home with the gas pedal floored but it would only reach 5mph.


Mass Airflow is probably defective and setting codes in the computer, have a shop run a diagnostic on it.

check your fuel filter and make sure it not plugged up, make sure you reinstall exactly as it came off.

2.8 motor starts and dies


If the choke is open very far it will start and run for a second then die because its getting to much gas or flooding itself.

Start of with dry gas and injector cleaner now..... and c if you can drive it. next try ur fuel rail it may be gucked up inside.  any service engine lights on?

89 chevy beretta gt- surges at idle, backfires and hesitates


Hi! I had the same problem with my 88 2.8 Ltr. Had dirty fuel Injectors. Put in fuel Inj. cleaner in gas tank, after a couple of days, runs like a dream,no more problems. Give it a try. Take care,Leo B. Flushme@shaw.ca
