The fact that you can get it to fire with starting fluid bodes well; the problem is not a bad one.

Check for a relief valve on your fuel rail; it may be under a plastic cap and resembles a tire valve. Pressing the center pin will tell you if there is any fuel pressure available to the injectors. It should still have some pressure after cranking for a few seconds and liberally squirt fuel if there is any present.
If you find no pressure there, then the fuel pump may have failed but check for a fuse for that circuit before replacing the pump and some vehicles have a shock sensor that disables the pump in an accident and can sometimes trip from going over very rough roads.

Be very careful using starting fluid, the engine can get damage very easily if to much is applied.
remove you air filter and get a small cap full of gas about 1 oz. pour this into the carb, then get back and start, if it does die again repeat the proceedure, if you can get it to run after doing this 3-4 times, then that means your fuel is syfening back to the tank, probably thru the fuel pump, this is only if you have a mechanical pump. if it runs after this proceedure, id say your pump is bad.
if you have an electric pump, which is probably in the tank, check you fuses. if not in the tank and it runs after this proceedure, your pump is probably bad.
before any of the above check to see if you have a external fuel filter, if you do, remove it but make sure it goes back on exactly the same way it came off. check the fuel filter by blowing thru it, in the direction the fuel flows from the tank to the engine, if its hard to blow thru, replace it then see if your problem is resolved.
if none of the above work then most likely your fuel pump is bad.
i dont know of any vehicles that use a relay, but thats not to say you dont have one on your vehecile. if you do, use a volt tester or light tester and check to see if the relay is opening and closing with power on and off.
hope this helps, good luck

check your owners manual for a fuel pump shut off switch if it has one, reset it, check for a blown fuse for the fuel pump, if that dosent work, check to make sure no wires got pinched in the bell housing between motor and transmisson.

I have a 1993 chevy s-10 blazer 4.3 vortec 4x4 , Was driving and it just died, when i went to restart it , it wouldn't start, i noticed i didnt hear the fuel pump come on, I did a test and bye passed...

You need to check the crank sensor, this controls tthe injector pulse. If it will attempt to start with alternate fuel but not on its own, it sounds like the injectors arent pulsing, so your not getting fuel. Try the crank sensor first.

I have a 97 Chevy Blazer that will crank but not start. I can get the vehicle started with the help of starting fluid or gasoline put in the throttle body but throttle response while driving is poor. ...

if it starts with starting fluid. its not getting any fuel to engine. first check the fuse and relay for fuel pump. then make sure fuel pump comes on when you try to start it. its only on for a few seconds when starting. then when driving its on all the time. good-day ! fuel filter also if need be.

My hoda civic ferio wont start cranks over seem it is not getting fuel how can I get it started

To be sure if it is not getting fuel ,you need to take out the fuel hose then crank the engine see if fuel comes out or not, secondly you need to check if the spark plugs fire.so you know where you are exactly with the problem to fix.

1995 honda civic d15b7 cranks but wont start. new

Are you sure you have correct timing? its definetly a fule problem, if timing is good then turn your key to the on position and try to listin for the fule pump to prime. While the key is in on position go to fuel rail, there is a valve on fule rail called sharader valve. Get a small screw driver and press valve in to check if car has fule pressure. if pressure is present then it is incorrect timing or possible bad cam sensor.

My 94 civic just dies while driving. let it sit for like a few minutes then it starts right up again.... car doesn't bog or anything, and I can hear it trying to crank. Crank noise sounds really good, but...

Try your cam/crank position sensor. Normally if its not working properly the tach will not registor when cranking. You should get at least 100rpms while cranking!

My 1991 honda accord won't start after it has been

Start with this at the time it wont start and only cranks over squirt some starting fluid in the intake if it starts and then dies out you have a fuel problem. If youve never changed out the fuel filter that would be a good place to start. If after you squirt some starting fluid in it and it doesnt even start check for spark at the plugs then at the coil and so on. Dont get to stuck on the relay if the relay was bad it wouldnt even start also if you have a way to check the fuel pressure check it and make sure its within specs.

Does the engine sound different when it cranks? It might be a timing belt concern? Remove the oil cap and look for the camshaft.(you might need a flashlight).Have a partner crank the engine and watch the cam. If it stays still you have a bad timing belt.Let me know what you find.
