Question about Chrysler Sebring

Stock CD Player won't turn on.

I attempted to replace my girlfriends stock CD player with an aftermarket CD player in her 2006 Sebring convertible. (I have done this numerous times before.) The new CD player has no power. I plugged In the stock CD player back in and it will not come on. When I turn the headlights on, the CD player illuminates but it will not turn on. Any suggestions?

Assuming the radio is OK and turned ON, at the 8-pin CD changer connector you should read fused B+ voltage on pin 8 and IGN SW OUT voltage on pin 4. The PCI bus from the radio connects to pin 3, the audio outputs are pins 1 and 5, the audio grounds are pins 6 and 7.

Hi Jesse,

Since you have done this numerous times, so you know the installation process. It seems there's something wrong with the aftermarket CD player, try replacing it with another one.

You will need 9/32" socket to remove the bolts keeping the stock radio in place. You should also look into a GM LAN Harness. i would also suggest not using the wiper fuse as your hot wire connect. use one with a higher fuse rating.

How to remove my cd player

most radios have a special key for removal.
if your radio /cd player is stock (unsaid)
then its covered in the factory manual.
consider Alldata , its in the book if stock.
if not stock get the CD name, brand , model number off the case
and google the manual for it, RTM , read the manual, its there.

How hard would it be to put a different cd player in my 2003 Monte Carlo SS ??

It is very simple actually. What you will need is a face plate, an aftermarket wire harness and the skills to connect this wire harness to the new CD player harness, they are usually color coded so very simple. TO remove you stock CD player you will need to pry off the plastic surround then there are 4, 7mm bolts that will need to be taken out and the stock CD player will pull out. Unclip the wire harness and antenna

Had the same problem with my 2004. Replaced the stock radio with a aftermarket pioneer unit. If you replace it make sure you by the aftermarket harness so it will plug right in and all your chimes will work.

I have a 06 Z71 and it did the same thing so more than likely your just going to have to buy a new cd player. I would recommend going with an aftermarket cd player because you probably going to spend just as much on another stock unit.

Some cobalts have the controls on the radio - some on the steering wheel depending on your trim level.

After you have the 2 side panels off - the radio trim will simply pull off in the same manner.
